A bunch of reunions tonight, I feel like with so many people here.
Who were you excited to reconnect with tonight or say?
Um, gosh, I just don't even know who's going to be in here.
Well, among the people that Julia Roberts didn't know would be in the Beverly
Hilton Ballroom for the 2026 Golden Globes was their Hook director, Steven Spielberg.
When I first saw this video of them greeting each other, I thought, oh,
that's a nice segment to do, you know, a nice reunion, like 35 years later after Hook.
And if less is more, there's no end to me, Peter Pan.
Then I started doing some Googling.
Oh, this run in is monumental because as shocking as it is to believe these two
Hollywood Titans had some pretty bad blood between each other after Spielberg
directed Julia's Tinkerbell in the 1991 flick, it was an unfortunate
time for us to work together.
So that's Spielberg on 60 minutes in 1991.
And he's referring to the timing of the Hook shoot because Julia was going
through a lot of personal drama at that time.
So yeah, she was engaged to Kiefer Sutherland and at some point she found
out that Kiefer cheated on her and then she hooked up with Kiefer's best friend,
Jason Patrick, and then eventually the wedding was called off.
And yeah, all of that was happening in the midst of the Hook shoot.
He said he really enjoyed working with Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams.
But when you ask Spielberg about Julia Roberts, the female star of Hooks, you
really don't get much of an answer.
Julia's a really, really good actress.
Would you have any hesitation about working with her again?
This is a 60 minutes question, isn't it?
And he didn't give 60 minutes an answer.
He's an expert at pulling focus, eh?
Yeah.
And the two haven't worked together in the 35 years since.
That doesn't necessarily mean that they've avoided working with each other,
but yeah, they haven't.
With Steven Spielberg, when you went in to do Hook, that he felt that the two-
Steven Spielberg, I find quite confused in his recollection of me.
You can tell that Julia's a little pissed off in that Barbara Walters interview in 1993.
Now first, in a Vanity Fair interview, Julia reacted to Spielberg's 60 minutes
interview saying,
Well, yeah, it is.
But did I do it with as much ease as anyone could ever do it in?
Yeah.
Do I ever feel like I inconvenienced him with my personal life in any way,
shape, or form on the set?
No.
The Vanity Fair writer said to Julia,
Julia said,
Yeah, so then to flash forward 35 years, and yeah, they seem happy to see each other.
I would think they've had some kind of run-in with each other over the last 35
years at some awards show.
Like, I'm not going to scan through every Oscars and Golden Globes to see
if they ever interacted, but I mean, yeah, I think it would have happened.
But in a telling sign that it hasn't happened,
Julia introduced Steven to her husband of 22 years, Danny Motor.
So yeah, Steven and Danny have never met in any of these, you know,
possible run-ins at award shows.
So yeah, maybe they haven't had a run-in in 35 years.
And if you think they're just being pleasant with each other for the cameras,
yeah, Julia then asked Danny to take a picture of her and Steven together.
I mean, unless Julia's planning on using it on a personal dartboard or something
like that, yeah, her and Steven are good.
It's like, do you think that this is the first, like, real interaction
that they've had with each other in 35 years and it's just been so long
and they're just like, you know, who cares what that feud was?
Or do you think, yeah, they had some kind of talk at some point that,
yeah, they buried the hatchet.
Yeah, just, I was surprised to learn about this feud.
And yeah, it's pretty cool that they are so good with each other now.
What do you think?
