Why Noah Wyle Had NO CHILL Meeting Ariana Grande

We love her, love Wicked. Played the soundtrack out this year in her house. And meeting Glinda was like meeting real royalty. It's so funny to see everyone's reaction to meeting you in particular. Ariana Grande was so awestruck. Was that the way it played out? I thought it was the other way around. No man, she was like... I thought I was drooling and telling her how I was going to have so much street cred with my 10 year old when I got home. And like when I meet the wizard, you know. Did you get a selfie video? Of course. Not only did I get one, but everybody I know sent them to me. So I've been sort of living on cloud nine ever since. No, we love her, love Wicked. Played the soundtrack out this year in her house. And meeting Glinda was like meeting real royalty. Again and again. Yeah, my face in that picture is pretty like... I'm not exactly playing it cool. I mean, I can't imagine that this feeling ever really gets old. The celebration of a new thing, a new season, another rip at it. I don't think there's a better feeling than having something in the can about to come out that you're proud of. I think that's about the best feeling you can have is that anticipation of something about to break that you're really happy is going to break. I'm really proud of this new season. We worked really hard on it. It was a tough act to follow season one. Everybody came back ready to play and I think it's going to be a good year. A lot of new this season. New blood, new characters, new injuries of course. But also maybe even some new love. Some cozying up. Dr. Robbie finally gets some... Tease the possibility of that. Possibly. Those that are looking for it will find clues for it. It's not out there in the open. If you look very closely you'll see it. What did it feel like to see some of the fans' reactions to how the show was breaking down in real time? Did you see any of that? Were you privy to any of the fans losing their minds over you all over again? Because I have adult children that would filter down to me. I would hear anecdotal tell of how popular it was. It's amazing. It's the second time that lightning has struck in my life like this where I'm working on something that I'm really proud of A show that has residence outside not just the soundstage walls but around the country and around the world. I couldn't be more proud of this ensemble. All of whom have worn their success and the hard work and everything we asked them to do so beautifully with so much grace. I'm a very grateful man. That energy oozes off of you. It's infectious. It's really a beautiful thing to see. I'm so glad to know that it's true for you. I want to know because I feel like on Sunday will be the Golden Globes. And that will be what? 30? Is that 30 years since you've been reunited with George Clooney at the Globes? 30 years? Is that right? That was 30 years ago. I mean look at you. Look at y'all. We're actually going to be reunited the night before as we give each other AARP awards. Which I think speaks more to the test of time than that photo does. Wait, really? Yeah, for real. Okay, please help me. Oh, oh God. You brought it up. I know. You know what? That's pretty amazing. Yeah. What does it feel like all these years later to still have a pal in George like that? To be able to have an experience like that. You know, I think he is a lot of where I learned my perpetual gratitude. He's never ever forgotten where he comes from and he's never taken anything he has for granted. And anytime you're around him you can still see the enthusiasm for the work, for storytelling hasn't diminished over the years. So when I think of the two of us still doing what we love to do 30 years later, it's like they ain't caught us yet, you know? I know, that's right. I hear, and I'll leave you with this. I hear 4th of July will never be quite the same. Well, hopefully people will be a little bit more careful after they watch this one. Dang, I heard. It's kind of a scared straight program we're about to show America on what not to do on 4th of July. That's what I heard. Episode 1, it's pretty much all out on the table. Yeah, you know, early on we plant our flag. You're either with us or you're not with us. We're going to let you decide that really early on. I know, that's right. Man, it's so good to see you. Truly.
