#jennaortegawednesday #jennaortega gets surprised twice in a #wednesday reveal by #catherinezetajones - Jenna Ortega and Catherine Zeta Jones share special memories of their mums and Costume discoveries.
In entertainment, the dad is always the warm, cuddly guy and the mum is very troublesome.
So I was really delighted in this season to see the two of you deal with the mother-daughter dynamic.
I wonder if you could talk about how you approached those scenes.
Morticia and Wednesday are two very brilliant, bizarre people and are definitely an acquired taste.
It takes a special kind of person to be able to even walk up and start a conversation with them, let alone put their foot down.
So it's an incredible game to play with Catherine.
Two people who respect each other and love each other more than anything else in the world,
yet have different opinions and are unwavering in their mindset and speak very violently and aggressive towards one another.
It's funny occasionally spewing out just vile things, but also the undertone being, I love you so much.
And for you, Catherine?
It's a contentious relationship, to say the least.
Morticia and Wednesday's relationship for me was very different from my own.
I never had that with my own daughter, but I know a lot of people relate to their teenage years, which is hard.
The whole world is crashing down on you as you navigate those years.
But I think they are completely different as well.
They're polar opposites. One's a raven, one's a dove.
I see Morticia sees the world a little bit different.
Kooky, strange, not formulaic, but to have them coming together like this, like Jenna says, it all comes from a deep love.
You can see that on the screen. Do you each maybe have a favourite thing that you do with your own mum?
My mum and I used to cook before she died.
How do you bond with your mother?
I sew with my mother. We've got a dualling machine and we make cushions.
When she comes to Spain, I buy outside fabric and we make outside lounge cushions and stuff.
We have a wonderful time where we just sit and sew together.
And for you?
We just love to turn a movie on the couch and then fall asleep at the same time, five minutes in.
Wonderful. Thank you. Talk about your costumes because they're spectacular and you both have incredible personal style.
Thank you. Colleen Atwood is a genius and that's nothing new.
She'll look at something and then say, add two buttons here and it becomes something completely new.
It's a privilege to be able to wear her clothes and so much of the wardrobe contributes immensely to the imagery.
And just the aesthetic of our show and the importance of that can't be understated.
She can take the iconic Morticia dress where if you close your eyes, everyone in the world can imagine what dress Morticia is wearing.
She's able to finesse it and make it completely organic to the character but just make it something even more special.
I've worked with Colleen like three times and she went to Chicago with her 25 years ago.
Wait, I didn't know she was Chicago.
Yeah. That's when I first met Colleen, yeah.
And it's just, she's the Edith Head who anyone who knows anything about movies and costumes was like the Grand Dame of the golden years of Hollywood.
She is of our time the most amazing, not just periods or Wednesday but just regular people wearing clothes in regular movies.
It's an amazing talent to be around. We're very fortunate.
Wonderful. Thank you both.
Thank you so much. Such a pleasure.
