Now, I'm glad you're here, and I'm really glad that you're okay.
Is this true? Did we almost lose Anne Hathaway?
Did you almost drown or something?
Well, it depends on who you ask.
Okay.
If you ask anybody who was there, they'd say no,
but if you ask, like, the media, they'd be like,
-"Yes!" She did! -"She did! She almost drowned!"
Oh, my God! The oxygen tanks had to be brought out!
And, um...
I love that the media sings.
The media has that voice in their head.
Yeah, they really sing.
No, what happened was, I went for a swim in Hawaii,
and I've been swimming in the ocean my whole life,
and it's never been a problem for me.
But I think I was maybe a little arrogant.
I was... Anyway, I got caught in a rip,
and I couldn't get out, and I'd been swimming for, like, 10 minutes,
and I'm a strong swimmer, but...
Well, I wasn't getting pulled out, out.
I just couldn't get in.
It would have been really scary if I'd been pulled out,
but I was just kind of stuck about, like, 400, 500 yards out.
So I'm just... And I've been swimming and swimming.
I'm like, okay, and I'm just gonna float for a second
and hopefully rest, and then, okay, no, this isn't working.
So you're just swimming in one spot,
like, just not doing anything?
Yes, basically.
What kind of stroke is this?
Maybe that's why I couldn't get in.
Yeah, you're probably swimming wrong.
Why are we moving? I don't understand.
I can't swim out of here.
Honey, help me. I can't swim.
This is doing nothing.
That's not swimming, honey.
Well, I have a... This is a photo of you.
This looks like you are drowning.
I'm sorry.
Okay.
That's frightening.
Yes.
That is frightening.
That would scare me.
I would just like to point out, that broad,
I'm married to that.
That's...
Yeah.
That hotness is mine.
Yeah.
That's...
That's you right there.
You're topless.
Oh, there you are.
That one's me.
So here's what happened.
What I'm saying to him right there,
and I swear to God, is...
Because my husband sees me, and he's just like...
Like, are you okay?
First of all, trying to communicate
from 500 yards out to your husband
that I'm sort of not okay.
This face says I'm not okay.
Look at this face.
Help!
No, I'm going.
Shark!
He's going, ah!
And I'm going, no!
Hold on.
You got to see.
He's going, ah?
No!
Why is he going, ah?
He's fine.
He's getting a 10.
You're drowning.
Can you do a side-by-side?
Yeah.
If you can do a side-by-side,
I can show you it.
Okay, so this is it.
No!
See?
And I'm just like, no!
Don't run out.
There's photographers.
You just made this so much more dramatic.
And he's like screaming like...
Oh, my God!
And he's like, my wife.
And I'm like, I'm not dying.
I just don't know how to communicate this to you.
Look at this swimming.
Well, good.
Did your family get all scared?
Yes.
I was scared.
My family got so freaked out.
So, I got off the beach.
So, I got, you know, to land eventually.
And...
You're exhausted.
Swimming all day.
And I cut my foot.
And that turned into a whole other Internet thing.
Because my husband...
So, my husband, like, helps me with my cut foot.
I'm bleeding on the beach.
And then I got scared of sharks.
It sounds like an awful beach.
I would never want to go there ever on vacation.
It was actually really nice.
It was nice, yeah.
So, my husband went to get, like, band-aids.
And he came back.
And we had this moment.
I'll get to my parents in a second.
But we had this moment where he was sitting there holding my foot.
And we knew we were having our photograph taken.
And we also knew that if the photograph wasn't being taken, he would have given my foot a
kiss.
And so, we had this moment.
And I just, like, watched my husband make a decision about what type of man he was.
And he's like, I don't care.
He went for it.
That's a good man.
He went for it.
He goes, I don't care.
He went for it.
He's like, I don't care, Internet.
So, I was waiting for him to get the band-aid.
And this is definitely a big change in my life.
The first person I e-mailed was not my mother, but my publicist.
I was like, I don't want you to be freaked out.
Something just happened.
Wow.
It's so Hollywood big-time.
It's so Hollywood big-time, man.
But then you talked to your mom.
She was scared.
So, then I wrote my mom.
And I'm like, I don't want to alarm you.
There's a chance that there's some photos of me looking like I'm in distress.
You were in distress.
I didn't mean this photo.
It wasn't that bad.
I said, but trust me, it's probably going to be overblown, but don't worry about it.
And so, I get word back from my mom, that's kind of scary, but I'm glad you're okay.
Please be careful.
No big deal.
A day goes by.
The story doesn't come out.
I think, wow, this is awesome.
I dodged a bullet.
Then, I wake up the next day, and my phone just lights up, like everyone I've ever met.
Are you okay?
And I'm just like, oh, God.
There's something got out that I died or something.
And then, so I call my mom, and she's like, honey.
And I'm like, Mom, I e-mailed you this.
I did my...
I checked up on you.
I told you it was fine.
And she's like, well, I'm just watching the news right now.
It wasn't the news.
It was the entertainment news.
Yeah, yeah.
And she was saying...
And it's saying...
And I'm looking at the photos right here, and you do not look okay.
I'm like, Mom, I'm on the phone with you.
I'm me.
This is me.
I'm on the...
She's like, hold on.
Hold on.
No, I'm giving you the story from me.
Exactly.
I'm okay.
Don't watch this.
I just have to point out, my mom doesn't sound like that either.
I know I make the media sound like that, and I'm just worried that my mom's going to watch
us and be like...
I don't sound like that.
Oh, please.
I give my mom totally crazy voices.
Okay.
So, Mom, I'm sorry.
Yeah.
What does your mom sound like?
She sounds awesome.
That's very, very nice.
See?
You gotta love Mom.
I know you.
I met your mom.
She sounds awesome and intelligent and wise.
Powerful.
That's very, very nice of you.
