And now, the moment you've all been waiting for.
The Strut Walk Tutorial.
This move takes practice and balance.
So you'll need to do a lot of simple exercises and I'm going to show you all of those today.
The Strut Walk is the perfect move to transition between moves.
I think it's a perfect little middle move.
Or if you want to look totally chill, vibing, you can do the Strut Walk.
I'm going to show you how to do it in place.
So first what I want you to do is warm up a little bit.
And then, when you feel warmed up, you can practice some balancing drills.
So you can do standing on one foot.
Practice balancing.
Stand on the other foot.
You can hold the wall if that helps.
But you really want to be able to stay in place on one skate.
Use your core. Engage that core.
Alright.
The second move that you want to learn is crossovers.
So how to step one skate in front of the other.
Forwards.
And you can put your arms out for more balance.
And if you really want to get better overall, you can try backwards crossover.
So step behind. Step over.
Or you can do both. Mix it up.
Okay. One and back.
So once you've got this down,
you want to try to take one step in front of the other.
Go slow at first.
Make sure that your core is tight.
Chin is up.
Sway your hips.
So as you move your foot in front of the other,
your hip goes out.
Out.
This hip momentum helps you to swing your leg in front of the other.
Swing one leg in front of the other.
If you're still having trouble,
this is the tip I give everyone and it seems to help them.
So what I notice a lot of people doing is,
they're walking in the A position.
If you want to avoid rolling back,
the V position is the magic position.
So even when you're walking with your skates,
your feet are kind of diagonal.
They're not straight or in the A position.
Because if they're like this, you're rolling back.
And if they're straight,
it's hard for you to get your back straight and look sassy.
Right? We want the sass.
So for the sass,
think V.
Think.
And you don't want to go like this either.
But you just want to have a little edge,
if you know what I mean.
When you're stepping,
and you're putting your weight on your outer edges.
So outer edge means two outer wheels.
Push into your foot.
So feel your weight dropping into your heel.
Your feet should always be grounded.
Almost pulling you to the floor.
You can feel your weight in your feet.
So really easy, really simple.
And don't forget that little edge that I taught you.
Okay? The little edge.
But I'm gonna go.
Okay?
You lift your foot, it almost goes onto that,
this wheel.
Pinky toe wheel.
You don't want to like clump your feet on the floor.
Think light with it.
Think strut.
And if you're still having trouble,
hold the wall and just like go for it.
Hold the wall and go for it.
That always happens.
And you go.
If you have any questions, leave a comment.
It's a pretty simple move.
It just takes a little bit of practice, like anything.
Legends are made, not born.
Alright?
I'll see you guys in my next tutorial.
Peace out.
