Are these the best views so far - Miglos to Andorra [S2-E20]

On the mountains I actually feel like Heidi in the traffic. All I need now is some goats. So we've arrived at the parking spot where we had planned to stay in Aruzilat, and it was so tight getting up here that there's only two roads out of here. I mean it's beautiful, but we're up in the hills so we either have to try and go back through that narrow road which was literally like that, or drive in that direction over there which is longer and the road looks very narrow. So we've just been chatting to a local guy who says no, go this way and there's a beautiful castle apparently just around the corner. So we're going to go check out the castle and apparently we can sleep up there for the night. So let's go, we will go and find the castle. But look at these views, everywhere around here is just so beautiful. So we've parked up at the castle car park, much nicer, we're just walking up to the castle and wow these views, what a view! Looking back towards Oros where we were earlier today, amazing! Good morning, we are leaving our little spot in the hills next to the castle and we're just turning Trudy round, because today we're off to Andorra and we're going to show you the sights of Andorra over the next couple of days. The sun is shining, let's go! So Marianne's thought for the day, let's stop on our hairpin bends so Chris can walk back up the hill to take a picture of the donkeys. Actually my thought of the day was, when you're going to cut your own hair and shave, because I've missed a huge bit here. Our personal grooming I actually feel like Heidi in the traffic, all I need now is some goats! This is the road to Andorra, and Trudy is doing a fab job, but my god what a road! I heard you want to leave this place, but we grind somewhere to hide when we were kids, so we could see and hear when you're gone. So we have driven down to Saint Jean de Casselles, to look at this beautiful church, and one word of warning, the car park has a barrier, so if you're in anything higher than a normal car, you can't park here. But we found very cheap parking just down the road, so just down the road in the blue marked parking areas on the main road, it cost 20 cents for an hour and 15 minutes parking, and it's only a couple of minutes walk up the road, so there is an alternative, so don't panic. Let's go and have a look at the church, so it's actually a Romanesque structure and dates back to the mid 12th century. So at the time we visited, we couldn't actually get into the church, I'm not sure whether it's because it's low season and therefore it's not open to the public, but it's a beautiful church and one of the known top sites in Andorra, very picturesque and I can see by the lighting that it will be lit up at night time, so I'm sure it's very beautiful. Andorra isn't somewhere that you'd necessarily go to, unless you're an avid skier or mountain cyclist, or somebody who loves hiking and climbing, and so that's not really our scene, but we're going from France to Spain and we thought let's go through Andorra, we've never been, it's not something that's ever been on our radar. The mountain roads are phenomenal, Andorra is the highest in altitude city in Europe, the highest city in Europe, it seems to have one main road through it, and there's a couple of little roads off it, but there's one main mountain road. Well, Andorra is a little bit crazy traffic wise, it's very busy and the roads, we've gone through a couple of cities, very hard to find spaces to park without barriers and things like that, so what's also interesting is we have no mobile signal or internet connection, so using our app Park4night to try and find somewhere to sleep tonight, isn't going to happen at the moment, unless the signal comes back, but we haven't had any since we've arrived in Andorra, and luckily we've got an airs book, so we've managed to find there are two spots in the whole of Andorra, and we are heading to one of them, so we can reassess, because the sites that we've pinned to see, are on our google maps that we need the internet for, so there's a learning lesson. So we've managed to find somewhere to park up through the airs book that we happen to have, and we've left Trudy in the car park, and we're going to find beer, beer just to calm the nerves, it's more a medicinal thing, it's been actually been quite stressful driving down some of these mountain roads and through the cities, yeah and not really knowing where we're going, because we can't see our google map plan, so it's been a little bit of a funny day really, yeah but we're just getting into the spirit of going with the flow and being nomads, exactly so beer always helps, it's a funny old place, I think it's out of season at the moment, so a lot of things are closed, but it's got a tremendous energy about it, there's loads of people that are mountain biking up hills, and we're right at the end of Andorra, so we're right in the local side, yeah it's not far, yeah 10 15 kilometers to go, and so we're going to park, we've parked up the road, we're going to stop over for the night, and then we'll hit Spain tomorrow.
