How are we doing guys? Welcome back to the Bonville Cocktail Collection. Now can you believe it's
been over four years since we did volume two of our rum cocktail series, which is crazy because rum
is one of my favourite spirits and without doubt my favourite cocktail category. When I first started
bartending seriously rum was huge, every other cocktail we made was a mojito. But it looked like
Jim was taken over there for a little bit and although for me rum never went away, word on
the street is it's coming back to reclaim its crown as the most popular cocktail spirit. And rightfully
so, it's incredibly versatile when using cocktails. You've got flavour profiles ranging from crisp
white light rums to rich robust and yahoo rums. There's loads of little distilleries popping up
producing amazing spirits and most importantly it's absolutely delicious. So what better time
to give you volume three of our favourite rum cocktails. Just before we get started shout out
to today's video sponsor and that is Raid Shadow Legends. Now I'm a child of the 80s so when we
wanted to play the top games we had to go to an arcade. So it blows my mind that you can now play
games of this quality on a mobile device small enough to fit in your pocket. The thing I really
love about this game is the immersion. As soon as you turn it on it feels like you've been sucked
into a Peter Jackson movie or an episode of Game of Thrones. I also love that the game coaches you
through all the early stages so even if you've never played it before you can get straight into
the action. I've been playing Raid for a while now and here's a couple of my favourite champions I
can highly recommend. Bacchus the shifter is a legendary champion who looks like a total beast
but the best thing about him is as his HP goes down his attack strength goes up and if he dies
you get a free go. My other favourite is Robar who's a legendary orc and this dude is insanely
strong. He has a high chance to stun on his default attack and get an extra turn if he's successful
meaning he has a chance to take infinite turns and his outfit is wicked. You know we love a skull
Now this month Raid has got a jam-packed schedule of events to kick off the summer as well as a load
of new content and as always they've got a bunch of new champions coming out and every single one
of them looks absolutely awesome. There's also a new rotation of the Doom Tower which I definitely
want to finish this month so I'm going to try summon as many of these new champs as possible
to help me get to the top. If you want to get a huge head start in Raid all you've got to do is
hit my link down in the description or scan my QR code and you'll get an epic hero Shanuru. You'll
also get 200,000 silver, 1 XP boost, 1 energy refill and an ancient shard so you can summon an
awesome champion as soon as you get in game and all these treasures will be waiting for you here
and you can find me in the game under Doomshaker. Good luck and maybe I'll see you there and guys
don't forget these rewards are only available for the next 30 days and only for new players
so make sure you click that link. Alright guys first up we're going to make a little twist on
a daiquiri in fact you can call this video twists on daiquiris because we're all kind of leaning in
that direction but this one was actually made by a friend of mine called Fraser Chapman who I used
to work with a bar called Match Bar and the address of that was 45 to 47 Clarkwell Road and this drink
is called a 45 to 47. I think Fraser actually made this for the Havana Club Grand Prix in about 2008
and I think he definitely went to Cuba with it I don't know if it won the whole thing but anyway
so we're going to start off with two whole strawberries and two wedges of pineapple into
our tin going to muddle that next up 20 mils of lime juice 20 mils of simple syrup as always
one part sugar one part water by volume 50 mils of Havana Club Anejo Special and the cocktail was
initially invented for this rum in particular so I'm sure it'll work well with
another Anejo rum last ingredient is a couple of good cracks of black pepper
that's it give it a shake just strain that into a frozen coupe with all those fresh ingredients
you're definitely going to want to fine strain this one and we're going to finish with a pineapple
and a strawberry and I seem to remember Fraser cracking a bit of black pepper on the top of it
and that is a 45 47. All right guys next up is probably the most famous of the twists on
a daiquiri and this video isn't really going to be called the daiquiri twist but
and this is the Hemingway daiquiri originally made for the man himself at Floridita Bar in Cuba by
the legendary bartender Constantino Ribei... Constantino Ribaiagua...
Constantino Ribaiagua by the legendary bartender Constantino Ribaiagua and there's no need to
comment on that pronunciation because I pretty much nailed it and our first ingredient is 15
mils of fresh lime juice 15 mils of simple syrup I know the original one didn't have any sugar in it
but you're not Ernest Hemingway so you need a bit of sweetness 10 mils of fresh pink grapefruit
next up five mils of maraschino liqueur I've got the Giffords one which probably wouldn't
be my preference the Luxado one's a bit nicer a bit drier but this is what we've got
and then our rum so we need 40 mils of white rum don't get mad again I should be using a
Cuban rum but I think it's important to support local in this day and age so we're using scratch
rum which is as good as anything that you get in Cuba but produced just north of London
it is really good stuff actually if you can get hold of a bottle I suggest you try some
and that's it just strain that into a small cocktail glass just going to use a Nick & Nora here
you can of course double strain if you want if that's what you're into I've got a
I've got two springs on my Hawthorne strainer so that should be enough
strainage to keep most of the big ice shards out but if you like the ice shards leave them in
and we can finish there as well doesn't really need a garnish but if you wanted to
you can garnish with a little pink grapefruit twist
pop that in and that is the Hemingway Daiquiri with sugar all right guys next up we are going
back to Jerry Thomas's 1862 Bartender's Guide and this is a drink called a White Lions it's a
shake and drink we're going to start with two whole fresh raspberries just in the tin
20 mils of simple syrup 20 mils of fresh lime juice 10 mils of dry curacao and 40 mils of rum
we're going to be using Malgay Clips give that a good hard shake just strain that into a highball
we'll top that up with some crushed ice we're using those nugget moulds that I mentioned in a
previous video because we don't have a crushed ice machine here and you can crush your own ice
but I think this stuff's a bit nicer it holds the drink for a bit longer it doesn't dilute as quick
so it doesn't turn into like a slushy I reckon a straw finish off with a lime wedge and a raspberry
and that is a White Lion all right guys for the next drink we're going back to the Floridita bar
in Havana Cuba and our old mate Constantino Ribeiragua and his cocktail called the Flamingo
we're going to start off with 30 mils of fresh pineapple juice 5 mils of grenadine
and then I'm going to say 5 to 15 mils of fresh lime juice depending on how
sweet your pineapple juice is and how sweet your grenadine is and how sour you want to drink
let's just split the difference and go 10. Last but not least our rum we're going to go back to
the Havana Club Añejo Especial again it will work nicely I'm going to go 50 mils of that
give it a good shake just strain that into a frozen coupe and no need to garnish because
you're going to get that beautiful foam from the fresh pineapple juice and that is the Flamingo
all right guys last but not least we're going to make a super simple cocktail called the Bacardi
cocktail and an interesting fact about this one is in 1936 the supreme court of the state
of New York ruled it illegal to make this cocktail with any other rum other than Bacardi
it's quite similar to the Flamingo in as much as it's got five mils of grenadine so we'll start
with that and then 20 mils of lemon juice not lime juice this time 20 mils of simple syrup
and 40 mils of light rum now Bacardi is a great rum but I don't think anyone should tell us which
rum we can use and we ain't in New York so we're going to go with our local brew 40 mils of white
rum give that a shake and that into our frozen coupe we've got just a little coupe for this one
because it's not a very big drink just finish that bit there and that is a Bacardi cocktail
all right guys I hope you enjoyed that let us know how you got one of those cocktails down in
the comments don't forget to like subscribe and share we'll see you next time but an interesting
