This is my first motovlog from Mozambique. Right after crossing the border I had problems with the fuel pump, but a local mechanic in Tete took care of it. The rest of the video is about new friendships and the long way down through Mozambique.
Just crossed the border with Mozambique and oh dear I really thought I'm not
gonna get in the visa printing machine was broken so they said well you can you
might as well wait here for day so you just go back to Malawi to pick up visa
from the embassy and it was just really not not looking well but I was very
patient and yeah they actually got up and and fixed the machine and issued me
visa also got the tip, tip was free here in Mozambique so I'm allowed to stay
with my bike here in this country for 30 days I'm so relieved that was a tough
one actually well not supposed to be but you know going back to Malawi would be terrible
For the last few days I had problems with Chillie she's just cutting off while
she's running so I'm actually suspecting maybe it's problem with a fuel pump
again or maybe spark plugs which I don't have spares so I arrived here in Teta
to the local mechanic I'm just waiting for him to arrive and apparently he can
even diagnose and he's got this tool to diagnose BMW motorcycles so we can plug
Chillie in and see what's going on hopefully it's nothing serious but I
need to fix it before I head further because yeah Mozambique it's a very big
country with a lot of nowhere so I need to make sure before I leave Teta
she's up and running again
I forgot my mechanics in Poland put that in and now it's time to put new spark
Is he taking it or?
No
Old stuff for my father because I was working all the time with my father so my
father passed away now I'm alone
So he said this fuel is sweet
Yes
That means it's not pure fuel
I think so
So we're gonna just dry it, yeah?
Yes
Okay
So turn out the quality of the fuel that I got from Malawi on the proper you know
proper petrol station it's very poor so we've decided to change the filter my
fuel pump filter regardless and just get rid of all this spare fuel this filter
I got from Google Tech thanks Google Tech finally I got to use it it really
saved me pretty much in the middle of nowhere so it's always good to have
This is the best guys
So the fuel from my filter is just really, really dirty so I reckon
See what is coming?
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Filth
Oh wow
Right well I'm glad I've got this spare one and we can change it now
Yuck
Cleaning the tank
Like metal dust inside wasn't it?
Yes
It's dusty
Yeah
There's a little bit more here for this side
Yeah, yeah, yeah
You see?
It's dusty
Something wrong with the fuel
New cover for the seat
Because I keep breaking it with my legs I mean with my boots so
It was very, had lots of faults
So now
It's all clean
Cool
Hopefully it's gonna last longer
Okay
Thank you very much for looking after my bike
And
Also, I just want to ask you tell me
Do you have a lot of overlanders coming in?
Yes, yes
So what sort of bikes have you fixed in the past?
Some seals, oil leakings, fuels
On KTM's, BMW's, Yamaha's, everything
Kawasaki's, all of them
It was nice to meet you
Thank you so much
You too
Bye boys
Thank you
This is my host Izaura
Izaura has been
Looking after me for the last
Three days in Tete
Thank you so much for your hospitality
I'm having the best time with you
You are most welcome
Thank you
Otherwise I would not be Mozambican
If I could not
Have, you know
Receive it properly
Yeah, thank you so much
So
Just want like I know
Pretty much all your story
But I just want to ask you a few questions
To share your story
With my followers
So
You've been
So your background is Portuguese
You were born here
In Mozambique
I was born in Tete
I grew up in Tete
And then
I had to go out of the province
Because at that time
There were no
University
And
Universities
In Tete
Right, so you went
You went to Beira
And then to
To Maputo
Yes
So you worked
Most of your life
In Maputo
Yeah, 37 years
In Maputo
Then when I retired
I came back
I
How's life in Mozambique?
For me
It's the best
Of course
You know
Like
Anywhere else
It's not
Everything is not
You know
Perfect
But otherwise
You know
The imperfections
Are
The
Spice of life
Yeah, for sure
So do you feel more
Portuguese
Or Mozambican?
Are you
Your heart is
I would say that
I'm like
75%
Mozambican
And 25%
Portuguese
Yeah, I can understand that
It's weekend now
So we
Like
Off our little adventure
It's gonna be awesome
All right, let's see it
You guys rock
You want to try?
Yeah
Okay
Let's do it
Cheers
We've got some
Pork coming in
Yeah
Thank you
It's got a lot of skin
Okay
Let's try
It's a bit fatty
You want to?
But it's tasty
Yeah
It doesn't look so appealing
But it's actually very tasty
Oh, wow
Thank you so much for everything
This is nice
Hotel Inter Chimoio is hosting me
For the night
Thank you so much guys
I really needed this
This is gonna be awesome
After such a long day of riding
In that heat
I'm really gonna enjoy this luxury
They even have a pool
And we're right in the city center
How's my hair?
So I'm on the run now
I've got 1200 kilometers to Tofu
Where I'm meeting XC Adventures
We're gonna have little holidays together
And I'm looking forward to that
But meanwhile
I'm smashing through
I've got 400 kilometers every day
It's quite hot but that's okay
I'm tough
But that's not a problem
Temperature is quite bearable
But apparently on this road
In the past few weeks
There were some shootings
There are people who are
Just protesting against the government
So the advice I was given is
Don't stay too close to the trucks
Or buses
Because they are the target
And they really not targeted
They shouldn't be targeting civilians
So I'm sure I'll be fine
Just I'm not gonna do too many stops
So this is the section of the road
Where the shootings were
In the past few days
Looks quite normal to me
But it's very lush and green
So people can just hide in the bushes I guess
I'm just gunning through
120 that's it
Let's just get out of here
As soon as possible
I'm nearly there
Just a little bit of sand road
And I finally get to the camping site
It was tiring day
Because I literally rode
300 kilometers straight
With no stop
And now I have this sandy road
At the end
I need a cold beer
Badly
Goodie Villas
Which
Campsite
It's like a campsite
And they have villas too
But they're way too expensive for me
But the place is right on the ocean
See?
Ocean
And the guys were so kind
And they said
I can camp here
Under this shelter
At the pool
Well I didn't tell them
I'm gonna be sleeping
On this table
But it's a
Proper looking table
So I'm looking forward to that
It's just like in good old days
In Australia
That's the life
So this is
Catch of the day
A few little fish
That's cool
Yeah?
Let's do it
So
Hello
So what's the catch of the day today?
The cheese
You guys
Very professional
Packed up and all
That's prawns
Yes
Bloody hell
They're big man
You can have a fry tonight
Wow
We don't eat tomato
