Turkish F-4 Phantom IIs in Italy for a NATO Exercise: A day at Istrana Air Base for Poggio Dart 2025
This video is about a day I spent at Istrana Air Base, in the North of Italy, at the beginning of this month during the NATO's Exercise Poggio Dart 2025 (PODA25). Istrana is the headquarters of the Italian 51º Stormo and for the occasion they organized a day open to planespotters during which we were able to record some of their daily activities with the Eurofighter Typhoons but also to see the Turkish Phantoms up close. In fact Poggio Dart is a joint international exercise which saw numerous aircrafts involved over the course of two weeks between the end of November and the beginning of December in Italian skies. Italian F35s, Tornados, Typhoons and Harriers were joined by both American F16s (coming from Aviano Air Force Base) and three F-4 Phantoms from the Turkish Air Force (Türk Hava Kuvvetleri) which chose Istrana as their logistics base for this training.
