Dun, dun, dun, dun.
Hold out your own gun.
Bring in your friend.
It's fun to lose.
And to pretend.
She's out for a bar.
It's that fun and sure.
Hi, I'm Brad.
Hi, I'm John.
Okay, so...
Demas sent a party yesterday.
He left us a Christmas present by dropping a song.
Well...
Cora Stannon did as well.
Except he couldn't be bothered to drop one.
Four?
Four.
Are we doing another four?
Nope, we're doing one.
And then next week we'll do another one.
We'll hit them all up.
But yeah, he dropped four in one day.
Been busy.
Been a busy boy.
Why not?
So, this one.
Because I had to pick one.
I went with
Smells like teen spirit.
This is going to be interesting.
So yes, he's done a beatbox
cover of Nirvana.
Mm-hmm.
This is the one song that you can or can't
see anyway.
That's true.
I should also point out that
Taurus is now 32.
His birthday was on the 13th of December.
So...
Whoops, we missed that.
Now, this person
Smells like teen spirit is a song by the American rock band Nirvana.
I guess I mentioned that
basically.
It's the opening track and lead single from their second album
Nevermind, which was released in 1991.
Wow, that was actually
quite a long time ago now.
If you stop and think,
in not much time now,
that album's going to be
25 years old. Anywho.
35, sorry.
I saw
a meme or something
that said, can you believe 1995
was 50 years ago? And I'm like,
it's because it wasn't?
It's like, don't be pushing it further
than it already is. It's bad enough
it was 30 years ago.
Exactly.
The success
of the song, more than anything,
I think it sold more than 13 million copies
of the album, the song basically
did, I think.
Nevermind
topped quite a lot of album charts
and is
often said to be the point
where grunge became
mainstream. Well, that's what I was going to say.
That's probably when
I went from
this to that.
And that was also when I was in college too
and I was in college at one time.
See, my music taste
is typically very weird
because I literally
do run from, thanks to my grandparents,
everything from
the 1930s and 1940s all the way
up into the mid
to late 90s with the Britpop
stuff.
But it was still
pretty rock.
Anyway, it was their biggest
hit, period.
And Kurt Cobain,
guitarist and singer,
described Smells Like Teen Spirit
as an attempt to write the
ultimate pop song, inspired
by soft and loud dynamics
of the Pixies.
That's what he said anyway, in a quote.
The song was met with acclaim
and has been described
as the anthem
for the apathetic kids of Generation X.
Yeah.
Possibly.
Because there's a lot of songs
that fit that.
Apathetic kids.
Anywho.
They probably would have had bigger hits.
Maybe.

Explains why he's dressed like that.
I saw that.
That's how
people normally dress.
Right.
Okay.
Oh, no.
Oh, I know.
And everywhere.
Hello.
We're the light.
Oh that works, that really, really works.
This one is going on the phone, on my music playlist, I'll tell you that right now.
I'm not even sure if I have the original on my MP3 phone, come to think of it.
I should, but I don't think I do.
Ah, yeah, that's it, he's insane now, he doesn't want to do that.
And it just fits kind of the vibe of the song so well.
It's somewhere between, yes it's beatbox, yes it's cover, but it has that kind of like,
I almost want to say kind of like a bit of a feel of like somebody's done a
electronica party type mix of the song as well.
Here we are, now, energy, yeah.
And I forget, just what I take, oh yeah, I guess, it makes me smile.
I found a deep heart, it's time to find, oh yeah, whatever, nevermind.
We're the light, we're the light, we're the light, in this dark world, we're the light,
we're the light, we're the light.
Er, go get that paused on YouTube.
Yeah.
This one's actually a little bit longer than normal too.
Yeah.
And admittedly it has kind of a short little outtake bit at the end, which I left, but.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, that's great.
In this dark world, we're the light, we're the light, we're the light, in this dark world,
we're the light, we're the light, in this dark world, we're the light, we're the light.
Can't take me higher.
Well, obviously, you know, he's having fun doing it, so.
Yeah, that's just, yeah.
You should do that song now.
Huh?
You should do that song as well now.
Can't take me higher.
That's just, it is insane what he can do, it really is.
See, it just leaves me speechless every time I watch him, because it's just
the ability to come up with that and do that, and yeah.
And yeah, as you say, just a little snippet at the end, he's obviously having fun doing it.
Somebody actually said in the comments, or one of them, I'm pretty sure it was about him,
that he's actually a driver for Uber.
So being ubered around by him, he actually tries new things out on his customers.
There you go.
Kind of like, see what works and what doesn't, kind of thing.
Yeah, some customers are going to be like, Uber driver, did I get it?
No, yeah, once again, he pulled it off.
Radio's broken.
Pulled it off, did a great job.
We're definitely going to check out the other ones he dropped just the other day.
So if you want to see them, make sure you get that like and subscribe.

A bunch of nostalgia stuff.
Nostalgia stuff from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Quizzes and trivia and our year-end in memoriams are getting put up there,
or starting with last year's and hitting this year's here in the next couple of days.
Gen X music.
Rewind.
Which is daily shorts of some of the classic music that
Gen X and boomers and older millennials grew up with,
and or anyone else who likes that type of music.
Yeah.
Check them out.
For some reason, we haven't actually done this song yet.
Weirdly enough, it might pop up today on that channel.
Well, we were just doing 60s, 70s, and 80s, but we are kind of getting into the early 90s.
Some of the late 50s, because we just did Christmas,
and some of the Christmas songs were more in the 50s.
And like I said, we're probably drifting to the 2000s a little bit as well,
because let's face it, some of those classic artists that we grew up with are selective.
For example, The Rolling Stones.
They ain't dead yet, apparently.
They're still a-rolling.
Yeah.
Bon Jovi.
Good thing it's all downhill.
That's about to keep going.
That's true.
And Bon Jovi's still active, so there's a lot of great ones.
So yeah.
So if any of that interests you, go check it out.
I'm just trying to make a run of it.
So I guess until next time, thanks for watching.
