Kangaroos are marsupial mammals that are naturally found only in Australia and some nearby islands.
The most well-known species is the red kangaroo, which is also the largest type of kangaroo.
One of the most striking features of kangaroos is their strong hind legs and long tails.
These help them jump at high speeds and maintain balance.
Kangaroos can move by hopping at speeds of up to 70 kilometres per hour.
Female kangaroos have a pouch located on their abdomen.
The babies, called joeys, enter this pouch immediately after birth and continue to grow there for several months.
Kangaroos are generally herbivores and feed on grass, leaves and other plants.
They usually live in groups, known as mobs or troops.
An interesting feature of kangaroos is their ability to carry their young in their pouch for a long time
and they can even feed two joeys at different stages of development at the same time.
