The Easiest Way to Modulate Between Keys in Any Song
In this video, I demonstrate how to modulate from the key of C major to D major using one of the most effective and widely used techniques in music: the dominant chord, or “5 of the new key.” I walk through a live example using the song “Amazing Grace,” showing how to use an A major or A7 chord (the V chord in D) to create a smooth, natural key change. This approach works for half-step, whole-step, and even larger modulations—perfect for spontaneous transitions in Gospel and worship music.
