Well hello. We are on the South Fork of the Teton River. Now I'm out here once again
with Andrew and Lacey headed into the Bob Marshall. Gotta climb up and over a pass.
I was finally back out with Andrew and Lacey. It's been a couple years since we were last
in the wilderness together. Once again I was headed out with them for one night in the Bob.
Well we're working our way up the pass now. Almost to the switchbacks. About four miles in.
Trail's been nice. Only a few blowdowns. It's been a nice hike. The trail to that point had
been well graded but once we crossed over the river things took a turn and the trail seemed
to go straight up the mountain. Top of the pass. Official. Once we were over the pass
Andrew scouted down a ways and found a spring and a good meadow to camp in.
After dinner we enjoyed a fire in our custom fire pit that Lacey built.
The birds were singing. The valley was calm and I was happy to be in a place where all that mattered
was good fire, good friends, and smooth whiskey. Well good morning. Morning day two for the
backpacking trip. Really day three for the overall trip. We had a day zero on this trip.
On Friday Andrew and Lacey met me at a campsite and we camped the first night there and then we
drove to the trailhead yesterday. But this is where I'm going to be leaving them.
They're going to continue on for a couple more nights. Wish I was going with them. This is pretty
tough. I have to head back over the pass and back to my truck at the trailhead. It's going to be a
great hike though. I am looking forward to being up on that pass again. The mountains here are something else.
See ya. All right it's split time. They get to go deeper. A little sad. We're going this way.
So we get to start the day with a little over 500 foot climb back up to the pass
and then once we get there it should be downhill all the way. Another beautiful day in the bob.
Top of the pass. It's a lot better coming from this other direction than coming from this way.
That was way easier. It's breezy here again so I'm not going to stay too long.
And we had a slow morning on purpose out of camp today just to hang out with each other a little
longer but I need to step the step out the rest of this trail. I got a long ways to travel today
and this means I'm leaving the bob. I suppose we should go say goodbye. There's no grand bob
marshall sign here but we'll still pay our respects. But we still got five miles to go.
Made it down off the pass. The bad part it's really just this section here that goes straight
up that's the worst. Loving it. Loving this walk. Gonna have to soak in these views before we dip
back into the trees. All right we've hit the switchbacks that go down to the south fork of
the Teton. Just a little ways back now. Been a great hike today. Oh and I'm ready. There's beer
in the truck. Let's go. Well made it back down to the river. Just got to work my way along here
and find a place to cross. Can't quite see the trucks yet. Even though I wished I was still with
Andrew and Lacey heading deeper into the wilderness, I was happy that I was able to go in
and get a night in the bob. The views were incredible and I'm already thinking about
where we'll go next time. Cheers. Huge shout out to Andrew and Lacey for letting me join them on
this trip. It was fantastic short but I had a great time and look at this place. Cheers.
