Fiddleford Manor, Knowlton Church, Horton Tower

Fiddleford Manor are the remains of a complex manor house parts of which date from the 14th century with later additions and demolitions.
Knowlton is a Norman church from the 12th century with a tower added in the 15th century. It stands inside earthworks from around 2.500 BC.
Horton Tower has seven floors and was built in the 18th century, possibly used for hunting, later for triangulation and mapping.

Fiddleford Manor sind die Überreste eines früher recht großen Herrenhauskomplexes. Teile des Baus stammen aus dem 14. Jh., andere aus dem 16. und späteren Jh. Im 18. Jh. baute man einen jetzt nicht mehr vorhandenen Teil an und kürzte die Hall massiv.
Knolton ist eine normannische Kirche, die im 15. Jahrhundert stark verändert worden sein soll. Sie steht innerhalb eines jungsteinzeitlichen Endwerkes, das ca. 2.500 v. Chr. errichtet wurde.
Der siebenstöckige Turm, ein Folly, wurde im 18. Jh. gebaut. Genutzt wurde er vermutlich als Auskuck fürs Jagen, später zur Triangulation und Kartenerstellung. Heute wird er als Mobilfunkmast genutzt (?!).
