I gather bows, we seal the vows
All seem to say, throw cares away
Christmas is here, bringing good cheer
To young and old, meek and the bold
Ding dong, ding dong, there is a song
With joyful ring, all caroling
One seems to hear, words of good cheer
From everywhere, filling the air
Ho, how they pound, raising their sound
Ho, hill and dale, hailing them down
Gaily they ring, while people sing
Songs of good cheer, Christmas is here
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas
Merry, merry, merry Christmas
All listen, all without end
Their joyful tone, to every home
Ho, how the bells, we seal the vows
All seem to say, throw cares away
Christmas is here, bringing good cheer
To young and old, meek and the bold
Ding dong, ding dong, there is a song
With joyful ring, all caroling
One seems to hear, words of good cheer
From everywhere, filling the air
Ho, how they pound, raising their sound
Ho, hill and dale, hailing them down
Gaily they ring, while people sing
Songs of good cheer, Christmas is here
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas
Maybe even more so depending on who you're asking
Only a few remaining gifts are waiting to be wrapped and placed underneath the tree
It's at this point that the slowness that I've been waiting for all season long
Is finally settling in and I, very gratefully
At the exact same time, am ready to sit
And soak every last bit of it up
So, for this week's craft
It really originated from the thought process
Of trying to figure out ways that I could change
My Christmas color scheme very affordably, I've talked about this with you
A million times over, I love to keep things fresh and interesting
Every year, but I do my best to try to do that
As affordably as possible, and when I set out to do that
This year, around the same time period, I came across
Some really beautiful vintage ribbon
And a lightbulb moment instantly happened
I was trying to figure out ways I could use this beautiful ribbon, and then I thought
Well, what if we took ornaments that we no longer wanted
Or weren't going to use anymore, or maybe ones that
We had found at the dollar store
Or in a goodwill bin, and we could adjust them
In a way that would fit our current color scheme
Now, if you don't have an ornament that you're wanting to paint over
I actually found this at Hobby Lobby, I even considered
Using a styrofoam ball, I think you could also
Paper mache over that, the point is, really anything will work
So let me show you the ribbon that I found
You can see there is that blue that I continue
To seek after that came from
Our original stocking that was the inspiration
And then, of course, the traditional kind of burgundy and green
Christmas colors
Hello, good morning friends
So we are back on the saddle again
That is our little Christmas ornament endeavor
In this household, completing a project in a single day
I will say, I'm quite excited
As to what I'm going to do
As to how they turn out
I'm telling you, if I can do this project, anybody can do this
Also, if you will kindly cast my swollen features aside
I may or may not have had way too much sugar yesterday
One of the many blessings
The birth of Irish June has brought about
Anytime I eat honestly too much salt or sugar
I wake up the next morning like a balloon
I don't know, am I the only one that does this?
Never heard of it before, but it's definitely a side effect of my fourth child
Anyway, let's go ahead and continue our project
Oh, I will say, when I originally started this project
I thought that I had some tiny little brass eye hooks
I know I have in the past, but for whatever reason
I can't find them in the toolbox
So I'm going to just use some super glue
And try to create some sort of knot and stick the ribbon
Within the hole that I either created
Or that was there as a result of the previous hanging mechanism
If they end up falling out, I can always
Just get an eye hook and glue and screw that in
And do it the proper way
Now if you're doing this with an old ornament
This is obviously something that you don't have to mess with
Around here y'all
We are serious about our sugar cookies
A little backstory on this recipe
So a few years ago I was looking for a sugar cookie recipe
That could do it all
I wanted one that could taste really good
That wouldn't spread after it was baked
And that wasn't complicated
The problem that I was finding with all the sugar cookie recipes that I had tried thus far
Was that one was either really tasty
And came out extremely ugly when you tried to pair it with the cookie cutter
Or the really pretty ones that didn't spread
Tasted like a piece of cardboard
So I kind of mixed several recipes that I found
Exchanged certain ingredients that I preferred to use
And out came this recipe
So once you've got one cup of butter
In your mixing bowl at room temperature
You're going to add one cup of sugar
Like I said, one cup of butter, one cup of sugar
And then you're going to cream those two together
I usually stop creaming it at about a minute or two
When you start to notice that the mixture has gotten a little bit lighter
That means that there is air that has come into it
And that lets me know it's pretty much creamed together
I forgot to mention that I use salted butter
I just absolutely love the flavor of it
But if you don't have it, you can always use unsalted butter
And just put a pinch of salt in there
But don't forget that salt, it is vitally important to the taste
As far as I'm concerned when it comes to any type of sweeter dessert
Then after that you're going to add one teaspoon of vanilla
And one egg, so you get that one, one, one, one
Super simple, not hard to remember or follow
When it comes to this point
Some people like to separate and sift
I like to keep things very easy
When it comes to inserting the dry ingredients
I just like to plop them all in there and mix them together
So tis what we will do next
And next we're going to...
The holidays...
Oh, okay honey, alright
And some people like to separate and sift
I just like to plop them all in there
Okay, alright, am I way too close?
