Hello friends, let the Christmas season begin! I've loved having the Christmas tree up the last
couple days. The kids put it up. I love having the extra lights even if it's not decorated.
I do feel like we're going to finally get to the decorating within the next 24 hours.
We had such a nice Thanksgiving with family and friends. It's time to kick off Christmas and I
just feel like if we're not careful the month will just like go by like that. But we're going to try
and savor everything. We've gotten a lot of Christmas cards already. I've started sending
them back to our viewers. Thank you for everyone that chooses to send a Christmas card. It is so
fun. So we'll be putting some of those up today and then we're just gonna see what we can get done
throughout this video. We would like to thank Pet Kit for sponsoring today's video and that's
actually our first task. About two years ago Luna got an upgrade from a regular traditional
litter box that we had to scoop everything out of the Pet Kit automatic litter box and we have
been so happy with this. So as I've said we've been using the Pet Kit automatic litter box in
our home for over two years now and it's been such a game changer. The box is very large. We
gotta get this taken care of so we can get all the Christmas stuff out that takes up this whole
entryway. So when Pet Kit reached out and offered to send us their newest model, the Purobot Max
Pro 2, now with an upgraded AI camera I was honestly really excited to try it out. Today
I'm unboxing it, getting it set up, and showing you how it works for our cat Luna. Luna you're
getting a new litter box. The new AI camera adds a ton of smart monitoring to the litter box. First
of all it has facial recognition for multi-cat households so if you have multiple cats it can
easily identify which cat is using the litter box or if there's any abnormal bathroom behavior so
you can take them to the vet in time. 43% wider opening and then this one has an AI camera
right here on the inside so you can keep track of your cats.
Oh it's bigger. It is bigger. It says that for two cats can go 17 days. What?
Checking it out. She's like this looks familiar but smells a little fresher. One of my favorite
things about the Pet Kit litter box over the last few years is their bagging system for super easy
cleanup and they made it even better in this model with a contactless drawstring packing.
It makes changing the waste bag super clean and simple and it can go up to 17 days without
needing a waste bag change so if you're on a short trip or away from home for a little while
you don't have to worry about your cat's litter box not being scooped. And yes it's designed to
be odor free keeping the litter area fresh without extra effort. I've always appreciated
that there is no smell with these litter boxes. Air freshener. I never used that on the old one
but I have never had a problem with it smelling even without using the air freshener but we will
try it out. It also comes with an odor eliminator that goes in this part. Oh that's like magnetic.
The litter box still fits in the same area in our laundry room but it has a 76 liter cylinder with a
very big entrance giving your cat plenty of room to move around comfortably. Even if you have a cat
over 15 pounds they can use it comfortably and still have plenty of room to move around. And
safety is a huge priority with this model. It has 12 sensors plus PetKit specially designed
incomplete gear mechanism that even if every sensor were to fail the gear system still keeps
a small safety gap so your cat can always get in and out without ever getting pinched. Using the
app you have bathroom behavior tracking. The new device popped right up when I scanned that.
It tracks the frequency and details of each litter box visit. This helps cat parents monitor their
cat's bathroom habits and health related data effectively so that you don't miss out on cues
that something might be wrong. It even has detection of straining sounds during urination
and this usually indicates that the cat may have a urinary issue and it will alert you to that. How
amazing is that? All of this information syncs directly into the PetKit app on your phone for
clear data insights on your cat's health. If you're ready to check out the PetKit PuroBot Max Pro 2
for yourself hit the link down in the description below. It is perfect for any family wanting to try
out an automatic litter box for the first time. This is a great choice. PetKit is a well-known
and reliable brand and it's currently on sale so it's the perfect time to grab one. Taking a moment
here by the fire and working on Christmas cards. Got my stack of cards there. The ones I've written
back. The envelopes. These are the ones I haven't got to yet. Working through them while doing
stickers for Violet. Here you go. Goofy. One of our viewers sent these stickers. Can you say thank you?
Interested to see at the end of this first batch of letters what states we have. How many states
we have. I printed off a map. We will keep practice after I finish this first batch. That's a duck. Here you go.
So they have to kind of cover each other a little bit.
Oh my goodness. Christmas cards. We got all these.
We got a little peanut section over here.
Oh wow. We got all but 11 states. We're missing Montana, Nevada, Arizona, Nebraska, South Dakota,
North Dakota, Mississippi, Maryland, Delaware, Vermont, and New Hampshire. But pretty good. I feel
like I saw one. I thought I would come home from church today and just tackle the Christmas
decorating. And I came home from church today and just felt really tired. So I rested a bit. Family
went out on a family walk and I am hoping that maybe I can bust through as much as possible while
they're gone. And then we can catch Violet's reaction to seeing all the Christmas decorations
when they get home. I don't know. I finally feel enough energy to maybe tackle it. I do have to
show you this. This came from one of our viewers. Unfortunately it didn't have any sort of note in it.
This is a little tower for Violet to stand on so she can be in the kitchen. Bennett put it
together this afternoon so hopefully we'll get to see her helping in the kitchen and that. So
thank you to whoever sent it. All right. Let's do some Christmas decorating. I think first I'm
gonna get out of my dress and we gotta get my Christmas sweatshirt on. Okay. Got my Christmas
sweatshirt on. Let's do this. I'm just gonna grab a box and get started. I'm gonna turn on some
lights because it got dark real quick. Also just gonna clean as we go. Okay. Box number one. I just
get stuff out and set it on the table and then start thinking about where I want to put it.
Love these cups. Mark loved these cups so much that I found a dupe one to use all year round
because he hated it when I put them away every year. They're just like a plastic tumbler. I can
use these all the time but it's fun to have them to pull out for winter. See here's the equivalent.
It's called Tossware. It's like a stemless wine glass but made out of plastic. They have a lot of
ones that you could just throw away but we got the ones that uh cute little Santa mugs. I think
we only have a few of these left. The rest just have been broken over the years. Forgot about
these. You set them and you can put Christmas cards on them so we'll use these for Christmas
cards from people that we know in our real life. Maybe I forgot maybe we'll put our all of our
Santa pictures up on those. That would be good. This was so cute. Little baby Violet last year.
These are super fun. Every year Christmas cards that we get from family and friends we just
punch a hole in them and then tie a ribbon because it's fun to look back through the different years
how everybody has changed. Here's another year. This one year didn't have very many
and then I also often add our Santa picture to the top of it. Last Christmas another
picture. Last year's Christmas card. Oh I just love all these. Maybe I should frame these. I don't know
like different years of Christmas. I just love seeing how much everybody's changed. Pregnant
with Violet and Maggie. Oh I forgot that I made these little mangers last year.
The idea behind this there's this story that every time you do an act of service or during
the holiday season you add a piece of straw to the manger to get it ready for the baby Jesus to come.
I don't see the baby Jesus in here but we will try that this year. Stockings. Let's go put these up.
Hello Miss Luna. I'm gonna put up these bells and you're gonna go a little bit crazy.
So these stockings are replicas of the stockings that Mark had when he was a kid. This was a pattern
that his grandma made for their family and then Mark's sister Sarah made them for us. So really
love these. And yes we do have eight stockings to include our daughter Maggie who passed away
and has her birthday on Christmas. So there's one up there for her too. I did have the fireplace
going earlier to warm up the house because I was freezing after church. It got a little too warm
especially because we've got the dehydrator running making some new mousse jerky. I asked
Mark to make me some mousse jerky because I was missing it and so it's extra warm up here right
now but super cozy with the fire on. Let's keep going. Really? We only have one big Santa mug now?
That's all right. We don't have a lot of room on the mug rack anyways. Well now we have no Santa
mugs. We'll just have to use him for something else. I broke the handle. I was trying to do it
one-handed and was just too rough. It broke. Oh well you saw it happen. Sheesh. I'll try and be
more careful with the four little ones. All right I found a little section right there for those
mugs. I think we need to do a little mug rearranging. It's getting full on there. I'll just move a few of
these everyday items to the laundry room and then bring them back after the holidays. Make room for
the Christmas decorations. Let's go get another one. That felt like an accomplishment but we got
a bit more to go. Find another one. All right Christmas tree. We can do that although the kids
might want to help do that. And Christmas puzzles. Don't need that one yet. Some pillows upstairs.
Let's do it. As I'm getting stuff out this is also turning into a cleanup as we go. I don't want
want it to be decorated and cleaned up. Oh this is fun. I don't remember buying this
tree skirt. Cool. Must have bought this last year to go under the tree. I'm gonna clean up
this pile of books that Violet rearranged just because I'm kind of reading them more if they're
on the shelf and then the couch will be clean. Violet loves pulling the books off the shelf,
putting them back on. We're still working on that step. I'm gonna pack up these other pillows
and blanket and replace them with the Christmas ones. One more book. This one got a little
chocolate on it from somebody but I bought it with the insert so that I can wash it.
It seems like a good time to do that. I think there's got to be more pillows somewhere.
I'll just put them there for now. Home. I did not get finished but I feel like I made progress
and at least the house is cleaner. Did you go sledding? We went to the lake and we played in
the snow. Oh yeah I went sledding. How fun. Did you get up there by yourself? It's warm. You can
have that one dad. It's so warm isn't it good? You like the jerky? That's my favorite. I love
jerky. Yeah these are almost ready. I'll take one if it was ready. This one's ready. All right
thank you. My favorite snack. This and a cheese stick. Do you want to help put ornaments on the
tree? Yeah. Okay. Have to be super careful. Somebody needs to help her every time.
I don't know. She doesn't know. She does. She understood. You can always move them after.
That's what you're doing on me. These are all glass but we have some that are like this that
are not glass that she can put on. These can be lower. Yep these little snowflakes.
Oh I made this last year. That's cool. We'll save that for Maggie's tree.
You helping? Okay go get it to Hunter. Be very careful. Best thing about Thanksgiving is close
to Christmas. Mark is handling dinner. We're having some king salmon and veggies and rice.
I'm gonna keep decorating.
We got these out last year. It's a stack of mugs and they make a picture. We have two of them.
All right this one's a snowman.
Yeah you see our family? Where's baby Violet? You see yourself? You look kind of different.
Yeah that's you. I'll put that back up there.
Two of you and Santa with your brothers. Can we put it back up? Okay yeah there you go.
I'm gonna scoot this in just a little bit. Cut. Cut. Cut. Cut. Good help.
This came from my mom Mary and Joseph and little Jesus.
Look at all that yummy jerky. We're gonna have some good snacks this week. Is that good?
Santa hat.
I was about to clear out the books and put new books in
and then I stopped to sweep but Violet has found the books and is already looking at
fun dishcloths and towels. These are my favorite geometry towels. Fun for Christmas.
She's trying to show you the tree. I think she said hi Westy. Weston went on a little
overnight trip with the cousins. They were driving back to drop him off so Mark invited
them to come and eat some salmon with us. So he's finishing that up.
Wes Everett.
All right dinner ended up being a little bit of a bigger production because the family stopped
by but that was a nice wonderful surprise. It is feeling very festive up here. We didn't get it all
done but we are going to go do a 10-minute clean of the playroom downstairs. So hopefully we can
kind of finish this up. I would like to do it tonight but it's 7 30. I'm guessing it's going
to happen tomorrow.
I'm gonna watch you go. You gotta line it up though. You're a little bit off.
I'll help you. I'll help you. Say help please. Oh you even got it. You didn't even need my help.
Good job. I'm ready. Please stop.
All right we got this one last box. I'm just gonna push through
get it unloaded so that we can be done for the day. I have these little porcelain houses. I added
little wreaths to the front of all of them. Luna has the zoomie. She's like doing circles around
here. Yeah say Merry Christmas. Yeah. Not your traditional Christmas village but it's kind of an
eclectic combination of things that I've acquired over the years and I kind of just love it. Final
item in here are these bowls. They come with a little soup bowl. They come with these cute little
platters. One of our viewers blew us away and sent these a few years ago so we always try and
have at least one special meal on them if not a couple throughout the holiday season. We'll put
those in the hutch. Empty bin here. I'm gonna call it a night bag. Has all of our magnolia
ornaments in it. So I'm gonna do this tomorrow and then I have two Christmas trees downstairs.
The family tree and the entryway tree to decorate and just kind of fluff and stuff but I feel really
good about what we got done today. The house feels festive. It actually feels really clean
and we had a nice evening together so we'll see in the morning to finish off the trees.
Is that for Violet to find tomorrow? That one is very light. Found Mary who was lost from the manger.
All right this family tree in the playroom needs its decorations. Doing a little fluffing before we
it does it always looks a little scrappy. It is just kind of a scratched tree. It just needs a
little fluffing. We're gonna open up a first present for Violet.
It says my first Christmas tree. Turn it around.
How does this work? We have a tree. Maybe it fits together.
Let her put it on. Okay Violet here's the base.
Everett why don't you grab some ornaments and help put them on the trees.
Here's another one Violet. Okay Violet's first Christmas. This is when I was pregnant with Hunter.
This is Bennett's ultrasound. That's my ultrasound. Oh no yeah that's right that's Hunter's ultrasound.
These were from the NICU when Violet was in there. This was Mark's when he was a kid.
Yeah that is from Bennett's NICU. Oh yeah that was made by Paul. That's the temple
that dad and I were married in. What's Paul? Paul Fairbanks. It's the Mount Tipenogos Utah Temple.
What's that one? Oh yeah. What year? 2012.
I like it. Put it on the tree. That's what this tree's about.
Hunter here's your first Christmas. What year is that one Hunter?
What? It's two good ones.
Hey we want to see it. That's what this tree's about. Oh another Hunter's first Christmas. Man
you had a lot of first Christmas ones. See Hunter? Aunt Megan bought them.
For me? Okay.
I was given this one when I was a little boy.
I've had this one for 40 years. Can you hang the moose up on the tree? That one too.
That's another one that I was given when I was there used to be on the bottom it says Mark Ham
1983 age one and a half years old. So this was given to me when I was one and a half years old.
This one was from my tree growing up.
Here Hunter can you hang that one up? That one's from my tree.
What? Your choo-choo? You like the choo-choo huh? You put it back on the train tracks?
Okay here dad here's another one of yours. This one says Mark 1987.
There's a Luna one. Aloha. I know we have some viewers in the Isle of Man. These are shells
that my mother-in-law brought us back. We had ancestors there. Okay Viola I'll show you in
just a second. We had ancestors there so she brought us back each a shell so. 2018. Isle of
Man is off the coast of England. That's for you. Can you open it?
You're gonna go hang those up? Hunter made this little one at the hospital
when Bennett was in the NICU. Little Hunter. All right friends we got our final tree here.
This tree needs a little help. It needs some fluffing. When you uh plug in the lights not
all of them work. Let's see what we got to work with here. We got lights on the bottom. Lights
missing. Top. So we got an extra set of lights here to put on. Oops. I didn't put this tree up
last year in here so I put it up in the apartment. Here's one thing I love about the Costco tree
upstairs. It doesn't need the fluffing and the shaping that these other trees need. I am so dizzy
from going around and around. Okay it's nice and lit up now though. Lock in on school. Let's go.
This tree gets a few different things. I have the theme of Alaska for this tree
and then red and white and gold I think is what it is if I remember correct.
It always comes together really cute. A little fishing lure inside of a ball. A dog sled.
These are fun. My friend painted these. They're driftwood Santas made with Alaska driftwood.
They each have such fun little personalities because she like paints around the burls on
the tree and things so they have cute little faces. This one is made of actual fish skin.
It is from 1987. It was Mark's so it's very delicate. One of our viewers sent this
Debbie Sparks in 2022. It's a extra tough boot so that fits on our Alaska themed tree.
The cat just keeps batting at me while I'm doing this. We got a little Luna kitty to put on the
tree and Joy. Joy to the world. All right and then my cousin made these little moose cut out
ones that say this Alaska life so we got a couple of these for the tree.
All right at this point it has all the special ornaments on it. Hey Violet come see this tree.
Yeah that is a shoe. You're right that's a shoe. That's called a mukluk, a native boot.
You see the kitty? It does have a bow. You're right.
Okay now that it has all the like more sentimental or special ornaments we got to
add some color. We got a box full of colorful ones to the mix and we'll call this good.
I'm happy with that tree. I did also pull out these 25 days of Christ.
They come with 25 different ornaments and 25 different scriptures and little quotes to read.
They start with the birth of Christ and then actually go through his entire life. We stick
them here in this advent calendar and then we pull them out every night before bed. Then we
stick them on this tree. So we've already done two of them and we will do them throughout the
holiday season just keeping Christ in the center of Christmas. So that's always a fun little
tradition. My sister gave it to us years ago and we have kept it going. We were missing a few
things last year and Everett and I made some new ones out of clay before we put our Christmas
decorations away. So I made this little pitcher and this little cloud. Yeah okay those need to
stay in there till till we do them okay. You can look at them but put them back in. Tidying.
Really cool ornament came in one of our Christmas cards. It's got everybody,
Mark, Lauren, Hunter, Bennett, Weston, Everett, Violet, Magnolia and Luna. I saved this for last.
It's kind of a tender tree to put together. Got this little Christmas tree here. This tree is
dedicated to our daughter Magnolia who was born still born on Christmas. So let's pull out some
of these special ornaments. Last year when Everett and I were crafting I made this little magnolia
wreath. Beautiful little stained glass robin. These were from the hospital when she was born.
They had these on a tree. Violet has a matching pair on the family tree. This one says a piece
of my heart is in heaven and I have an angel watching over me and I call her sister.
Because someone we love is in heaven there's a little heaven in our home.
This one says the sky looks different when you have someone you love up there.
This one is really special. It was given to me by my friends
by our family friend's mom and she says the little star in the middle is Violet and the
bigger star is Maggie watching over her.
Maggie's tree? Yeah this is for you and your sister.
See this one is a star. You're the little star and she's your big sister.
She's up in heaven. She's up in heaven looking over us.
This final ornament was just given to us by a friend that works with Mark. A beautiful magnolia.
It was very kind of her. She also made a family one with everybody so including Maggie and Violet
to put on our family Christmas tree but always grateful to everyone that acknowledges our sweet
Maggie as part of our family. It's very tender but this just makes it kind of special to have a
little tree for her for now but since she's our little Christmas baby. All right we got all the
cards that we've received so far up on the wall. Almost filled up this entire section. Thank you
so much for coming along as we decorated for Christmas. We are so grateful for each and every
one of you and can't wait to take you along throughout the holiday season. We love you and
see you again real soon for more of This Alaska Life. Bye-bye.
