The holiday season arrived in full, sparkling glory as President Donald Trump and First Lady
Melania Trump welcomed Christmas back to the White House. On Thursday evening, the couple
led the 103rd National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on the ellipse just south of the
As the crowd joined them in a countdown from five, Melania, radiant in a custom winter ensemble,
pressed the button that awakened the towering Christmas tree.
In an instant, the dark night blossomed into brilliant white light.
The First Lady's elegant white wool cashmere coat, a double-breasted design from Chanel's
airspace collection for Autumn-Winter 2017-2018, shimmered softly beneath the spotlights.
Dark grey gloves and matching stiletto boots completed a look that felt both stylish
and timeless, a reminder of the glamour many Americans fondly associate with classic First
Ladies. This year's tree, a majestic red spruce from the George Washington and Jefferson National
Forest in Virginia, stood more than 10 meters tall. Giant glowing gingerbread figures and bright
star ornaments turned it into a scene straight out of a Christmas card. President Trump praised
the team who had prepared it, telling the cheering crowd,
Thank you, Melania, and it's a beautiful job they did on creating that tree. It's a beauty.
As the families and visitors bundled in coats found their seats,
a military band filled the air with beloved Christmas carols and hymns,
the kind many Americans grew up hearing on snowy December nights.
When the President stepped forward for brief remarks, his message was warm,
reverent, and rooted in tradition.
So as we prepare to celebrate the miracle of Christmas, we thank God for his many blessings,
and together we rejoice at the true source of greatness, happiness, and strength. The good
news is that glorious nights 2,000 years ago, think of it.
He reminded listeners of the biblical foundation of the holiday, quoting the Gospel of John.
Gospel of John, in him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. Beautiful words.
As the brightly lit evergreens shimmered behind him, a literal illustration of the verse. Still,
he made a point of embracing Americans of every faith tradition.
The Christians, we love all religions. And by the way,
religion is coming back to the USA. You see that very strongly.
The festive atmosphere paused for a solemn moment as President Trump honored two National Guard
soldiers who had been shot just blocks from the White House the day before Thanksgiving.
His voice grew softer as he said,
Andrew is getting better. Sarah, unfortunately, is watching from a high,
watching from heaven. Her parents are so incredible, and I just want to pay my respects
to them. Two incredible people. Later, after returning to the White House,
the President shared a photo on his social media of himself and the First Lady with Specialist
Andrew Wolfe's family in the Oval Office. He wrote that Wolfe is,
in the process of healing. His parents, brother, and all of his friends are praying.
I just met them in the Oval Office. They are fantastic American patriots.
That evening, the first couple appeared once again, this time at a White House Christmas party.
Melania's style shifted into quiet winter warmth, a light beige ribbed turtleneck with softly
rolled sleeves paired with a black leather skirt designed by longtime stylist Hervé Pierre
and finished with classic black heels. She greeted guests with grace, saying,
Beautiful. Merry Christmas and happy and healthy New Year.
Her holiday decor, crisp, elegant, and deeply traditional, drew praise from many. Comedian
Alex Stein contrasted it sharply with the decorations of the previous administration,
telling Sky News,
When it comes to style and class and design and just making stuff beautiful,
Donald Trump is an expert. Melania and Trump, you have to give it to them.
They are first class all the way when it comes to decorating.
Mark Nicholson of Stepmate Studios echoed that sentiment, declaring,
Christmas is back. We did it. Christmas is on. We can say it's Christmas this time. It's pure class.
First Lady Melania Trump ushered in the season of giving with classic grace and quiet glamour
as she received the 2025 White House Christmas Tree,
a tradition lovingly carried out by First Ladies for generations.
On Monday, the First Lady stepped out of the White House wearing an ivory belted v-neck coat
in virgin wool by Christian Dior, styled with deep burgundy gloves from Max Mara.
The coat, valued at around $3,100, paired effortlessly with the $215 gloves for a
refined winter look. And then there were the shoes.
Melania completed her ensemble with red and white tartan Manolo Blahnik pumps,
no longer sold, but instantly iconic, festive and holiday ready.
As a military band played familiar Christmas melodies,
the towering balsam fir arrived by horse-drawn carriage.
The wagon, pulled by two horses named Logan and Ben,
and guided by three tuxedo-clad drivers in top hats,
felt straight out of a classic seasonal postcard.
It's a beautiful tree, the First Lady remarked with a smile.
Online, viewers shared excitement not only over the grand tradition,
but also over the First Lady's signature elegance.
Responses ranged from admiration to holiday cheer.
One user praised how her grace often overshadows the noise around her.
The focus is always her beauty, so it is easy to overlook her many great attributes.
Her best may be her ability to ignore jealous attacks on her.
There won't be any mudslinging coming from this great First Lady
when she becomes an above-ordinary citizen again.
Others couldn't resist complimenting her look.
Give me the shoes, FLOTUS is always on point.
Another admirer took in the scene as a whole.
She's simply beautiful.
And look at those good-looking marines, too.
One viewer even declared it a patriotic hallmark moment.
Now that's the way to receive a Christmas tree.
Those Clydesdales and wagon are classy, traditional, hallmark moment,
faith-based, way to celebrate Christmas, especially with our lovely First Lady, Melania.
And, summing up the mood, absolutely beautiful moment.
Melania looks so elegant and full of grace.
Love how she's kicking off the holiday season with that classic White House charm.
Merry Christmas vibes already.
This year's White House Christmas tree comes from Rex and Jessica Corson
of Corson's Tree Farms in Michigan.
The Corsons earned this honor after winning the 2024 NCTA National Tree Contest in July.
Winners of this prestigious competition have supplied
the White House Christmas tree every year since 1966.
The 2025 tree itself was personally selected in September
by the White House Superintendent of Grounds, Dale Haney.
Although the tree arrived this week, the First Lady's holiday work began long ago.
In August, her office revealed that planning for Christmas Dakar was already underway.
By October, a video surfaced on social media showing Melania holding a gold ornament
with the caption, Christmas meeting in the White House.
This year marks the Trump's first Christmas back in the White House
since President Donald Trump returned to office.
With Halloween festivities complete and the Christmas tree now in place,
the next holiday moment is just around the corner.
The holiday season has officially begun, and at the White House, it begins with elegance.
