Calm, Light, and Minimal: An Architect’s Quiet Escape | Hide Out

Hide Out, designed by Dan Brunn Architecture in Los Angeles, is a 3,600-square-foot residence reimagined as a calm, light-filled retreat that blends art, architecture, and everyday living. The renovation transforms the original house with an open, gallery-like first floor illuminated by a large skylight, a sculptural walnut staircase that anchors the interior, and flexible spaces including a pivoting-wall multipurpose room and a Japanese-inspired tea-house alcove. Natural materials, clean lines, and a seamless connection to a serene garden by Kaisei-en shape a home that encourages reflection, creativity, and a refined sense of modern tranquility.
