However, Emperor Augustus intervened to save the slave and granted him freedom, sending a public message about the abuses of power, though this was an exceptional case.

Slavery in Rome was not just an economic system, but an institution deeply rooted in Roman social structure. Since the times of Romulus, slaves were an essential part of society. As Rome expanded, the number of slaves increased, along with massive exploitation.
