The Holy Spring Welcomes New Life: Baby Ducks!

Alright everybody, we got some new additions here. Let's take a look at them. There they are. The big one, he hatched out a week or two before we got these other ones. We actually had two hatch out, we lost one to a hawk and that's why we made this little screened in dog enclosure for them. And then we ordered these other six little guys. These six are an Indian Runner variety and we have no idea what he is but I'm assuming he's a Peking. So I just wanted to show you the setup we've got. This is an old dog cage, dog crate, whatever you want to call it, dog cage. They muddy up their water pretty bad. Let's get them some new water. Let's see here. Ducks love water. It's amazing. First thing you do in there is go in there and they poop. They muddy it right up. So I guess what I'll have to do is flip this cage over and hose it out to get some of the funk out of here. But that's our new members on the farm. Say hi. Don't go quiet all of a sudden. But these are going to be mostly egg laying birds. We got these for eggs. The Indian Runners make a good amount of eggs each year, comparable to a chicken actually. So not really a meat breed. That guy probably is if he's a Peking. But the rest of them are going to be skinny egg laying birds. Alright. You guys want to see the water? Here we are a few days later. Silly dog. Watch out. It's probably been at least a day or two since I took the first video. Let me just muddy that water up. I just changed this water ten minutes ago. Let's see if we can grab one of these guys here. Come here. Hi. Let me see one of you. They're hard to reach. I was just doing some weeding in the garden. My hands are really dirty, but I have to excuse that. This is one of our little Indian Runner ducks. He wants to go right back with his friends. Ready? Go! Shut up! Want me to throw this?
