2016 Yamaha VMAX comes into the dyno room needing serious attention. The Chris Moore dyno special gives this Yamaha all the power it can handle.
What's up guys, welcome back to the channel.
For those of you who don't know,
my name is Chris Moore,
and in today's video, boys,
we got a pretty rare machine on the dyno here.
This is a 2016 Yamaha V-Max.
We don't get to see a lot of these things come in,
so when we do get them in,
I always do like to video these things.
This one here's a pretty unique color.
It's a bluish-purplish color, dark blue.
Looks really, really good.
The different ways you see the light hit it,
it looks like it changes the colors completely.
This one has got a Voodoo Cat Delete exhaust system,
factory headers, but a Cat Delete and some slip-on muffler.
So dual exhaust, four cylinders in a V pattern.
So this thing sounds very unique, very cool,
but it has some crazy heavy restrictions on it
from the factory.
We just made the first pull.
It made 167 horsepower,
which is a ton of power for a cruiser,
123 foot-pounds of torque,
which is more than a Hayabusa,
but look at how the power, for one,
we got us a little roller coaster here.
We got some roller coaster here with our air fuel,
but look at how she just nosedives,
fourth and fifth gear, crazy heavy restrictions.
Currently, it has a top speed of like 142, 143.
The customer says he's been 148 on his speedometer,
on closed course, of course,
but anyways, we're gonna get this thing unleashed
and see what it's all about today.
Stay with us, guys.
Here we go.
All right, guys, before we get into today's video,
I wanna take a chance to show you about our newest giveaway.
This is the biggest one we've ever done.
The winner, one winner,
gets to pick between two different bikes
and $5,000 cash.
So you win, you get to pick the winner of today's giveaway.
You win, you pick.
You want a new 2025 Hayabusa?
We got it right here, fully hooked up, ready to go.
Or if you like the GSX-R1000, you can go that route,
pick the 2025 GSX-R1000.
It's fully hooked up, ready to go.
We got builds on both bikes, videos,
all through our YouTube channel.
Go check them out right now.
Don't forget, you get $5,000 cash.
Good luck, guys.
Here we go, boys.
ECU is flashed.
All those pesky restrictions are gone.
Listen to the way this thing sounds.
They sound oh so good.
Let's blast this thing off,
see what kind of power we got
now that the restrictions are gone.
I think it's safe to say beast mode is engaged, guys.
Let me get the before and after pulled up.
But you see, we just hit 182 horsepower,
124, almost 125 foot-pounds of torque.
We are picking up horsepower
as we dial in our air-fuel ratio.
You see we're getting a little smoother
and smoother each pass.
Let me keep tweaking this thing,
see if we can get her a little bit more power.
All right, before we get into showing you the final results
for this Yamaha VMAX after we've tuned it,
let me show you why this thing is so heavily restricted.
So we open up our Will It Tracing program here.
We go to Other Maps,
and then we pull up the ETV electronic throttle valve table.
Now you can see I dynoed the bike in fifth gear here,
and this is the throttle table that we're working with.
So these numbers up here,
this is how much throttle our hand is giving it.
These over here is our RPMs.
These numbers in here is how much the computer
is actually giving the engine.
So you can see here, 100% throttle,
pinned with our hand,
it goes 100% throttle at 5,500 RPMs.
It stays 100% throttle until 7,500 RPMs.
Then it cuts back to 43% throttle,
then 29.5 at 8,500 RPMs.
We get rid of all that in the ECU flash.
Once we get rid of that, huge, huge differences.
Another thing we do is the decel fuel cut option here.
So from the factory, when you let off the throttle, boom,
you feel a lot of engine braking, kind of nosedives.
When you resume throttle,
kind of snatches you back and goes.
Well, that's because when you let off the throttle
from the factory, it cuts the fuel completely
off to the bike.
We get rid of that when we tune it.
So when you let off the throttle,
the fuel injectors are going to keep mist,
that's a mist, right?
You're going to see a very fine mist
coming out of the fuel injectors,
and that is going to make the bike much smoother
when we go to resume throttle.
So the throttle on off transition,
going to be much smoother versus the factory stuff
that they give you from the factory.
Once we do that, these are the results we got, guys.
Look at what we got.
We started with 167 horsepower, 123 foot pounds of torque.
Now we've got 185 horsepower and 127 foot pounds of torque.
We smoothed out all these dips and humps
that it had in the mid range.
That's where the bike was crazy lean from the factory,
meaning not getting enough fuel
after we've modified the exhaust system on this thing.
So overall, huge, huge gains.
Let's put this over in wheel speed too,
so we can see what the mile per hour gain is.
Flip over here, speed.
Now we are able to go approximately
167 miles per hour on our drum.
So big, big gains, big, big speed difference,
and nobody wants to buy a high horsepower muscle bike
and have pesky restrictions on it.
They got to go.
All right, guys, that's going to do it for today's video.
I hope you enjoyed it.
