Kerry Madsen's won it three times before, so too Jason Kendrick in 22, 15 and back in 2012.
But this man here starts on pole. Can he win from position one over the 35 laps?
Out of turn four we come and the 64th running of the West Australian title is underway
with Zierfoss and Manders launching off the end of the main straight.
Down low on the racetrack is Jason Kendrick as they storm down into turn three. Luke Oldfield
has made a good start. Up in fifth place is Kingshot. Down low on the racetrack is Taylor
Milling. They've made it through lap number one and already car number 95 has opened up a very
handy lead on the rest of the opposition. Zierfoss leads from Manders. Oldfield is up in third and
Kendrick is fourth and under Kendrick comes car number two of Dane Kingshot. Yeah, Kendrick and
also Kingshot swap places a couple of times. They might do it again here. They're really tight
together. There's three wide there as Milling also down the low line is also part of that little
contest and Cullum Williamson is about to join in. That is certainly where the race is right now but
meantime the American in Zierfoss is absolutely shot clear. He's got a very quick car. He's out
Chasing back is Manders, Oldfield and Kingshot. Taylor Milling is next and right behind him
is the 11 car of Jason Kendrick as they make their way back into the Opel Finance main straight.
We've done five. Still a long way to go. 30 laps in fact but Zierfoss is getting his way through
the lap traffic. He's up high on the racetrack but this heavy traffic is going to bring Manders
back into the equation and here he comes. We've done six and Dane Kingshot also is closing in as
he goes around turn number two. He can see Oldfield who may have just made a little bit of
contact with the wall there and allows Manders to get that little bit closer. He's doing wheel
stands down low is the 25 car of Taylor Milling. He was just giving it to the claw to the floor.
He's getting it to stand upright as we see the race leader coming out of turn number four now.
They come around to the start finish line. Eight laps down. It's very close out in front. Zierfoss
just ahead of Manders. Hitting the inside concrete. He's got hard on his brakes. I think that's where
the flame might be coming from. As Manders closes in now within a car leg. Zierfoss goes down low.
Manders stays up high. Zierfoss has made a mistake here. Manders goes past him. Don't know why headed
down low. He lost his momentum and now Oldfield up on the tailpipe of Zierfoss. So too is that
man who is safe just in behind him in Kingshot as they come out of turn number four. New leader
Manders has taken over and he's got away. He certainly has the 13 down and 22 to go. Our race
leader is Manders from Zierfoss from Oldfield and Kingshot and they're all in the back straight.
There's not much separating them as they go up into slam turn three and four. Another lap put
together and it is still that of Manders as Callum Williamson's coming through. He's made up a
position and he's gone up in the fourth. So he's gone past Kingshot as you can see. 14 laps have
gone down so our race leader comes into the main straight. 15 laps have now been complete. 15 laps
with Manders, Zierfoss and also Oldfield right at the firing line and also now coming. What's fun?
And any casualties? No. Thankfully all cars unscathed. What a race. What a race to this
point. We've still got 20 laps to go. 15 laps complete of 35 in our WA Sprint Car Championship
and we are away. Manders, Zierfoss and who else? Callum Williamson goes down inside and up over
the top goes Zierfoss back into the race lead. So the American takes over or does he? We've got a
issue here with one end of the fence. Yep there was right at the very back of the field there's
contact between two cars. And let's hope and he started a long way back this time and just before
Slam as they roll around this racetrack. So Cade and Manders trying to establish his advantage and
he's been able to do that. Callum Williamson down the low line trying to get past Oldfield and he
may have. He does. Callum Williamson picks up a spot. Will Oldfield be able to get it back?
Yes, Manders leads from Zierfoss down low on the racetrack. Here's Callum Williamson.
Oldfield up a high. Oldfield and Williamson's into the fence and Oldfield goes to third. They're four
across the track as here comes Coyle and that kingshot goes back to sixth place. A lot happened
on that lap. So now Williamson back to third. Oldfield goes back underneath. Here comes Coyle.
Coyle splits them up as we come out of turn number four once again. Wow what a race at the moment.
So the top seven race car drivers are very well credentialed and the question is though can they
beat Cade and Manders? He's already won the previous feature race, the speed car race,
and right now he's in control of this race. He's got himself about 40 meters clear of the
world credentialed Brock Zierfoss, the American. He leads away 20 laps down and 15 to go. So they're
racing up high on the racetrack. Manders is flying out in front. You're right he just won the WA
speed car classic for John Day. Now he's 14 laps away from winning the West Australian sprint car
title but Zierfoss is trying to mow him down. Williamson is third. Oldfield is fourth. Down
low on the racetrack is the 79 of Coyle. There's Oldfield. There's Coyle and right behind them
is Dane Kingshot and also there is Taylor Milling. We do another lap. 22 down and 13 to go. 13 laps
for the Western Australian to do the daily double. How many times has that been done before? I
wouldn't have thought it has been done too often as he comes into the main straight. He's very thick.
There's the four of them fighting for fourth and very close now as Oldfield goes back to sixth
and Kingshot back to fifth. Well I can tell you what. Coyle's getting drive down the bottom of
the racetrack and he's moved past. He's moved past Williamson. He's up there in the third place.
Here comes the race leader. Zierfoss still second. It is Coyle down in third. He's in
behind Newson so he needs to get around that car, the slower car. Williamson stays high.
Kingshot pushing him along. Still Coyle down low. Coyle gets a job and gets held up and Coyle's
going to be held up for the moment. Zierfoss is still second. Zierfoss is out. Zierfoss is out.
He has gone to the infield. He's got his car sadly not able to make it to the finish well.
Kane and Manders now. It's his race to lose. He comes out of turn four. Yeah he comes out of turn
four. He's well clear. Now Williamson second. Kingshot third. Oldfield and also Coyle. Coyle
stuck behind Brook Newson. Oldfield's about to sweep around the outside as Kingshot goes around
the outside of Williamson. Another lap put together. We've done 30 laps. We've got five to go.
And also coming into it now is Harding. Look at Harding charging into it the 18 car. He comes up
on the back of Coyle who for too long stuck himself in behind the 90 car. Through goes your race
leader. 31 laps down. Four to go. Kingshot now second. Third place is Williamson. Fourth place
is Oldfield. Fifth place is Coyle. Sixth is Harding. They're the top six. Just behind them is Milling.
Into the main straight comes your race leader. Another lap down. Three to go. As now the 79er
Coyle comes underneath the Williamson. Williamson's wings starting to fall apart as he moves down the
main straight. Our race leader is in the triple M back straight. He's making mint speed of the
opposition at the moment. Comes into the main straight with two laps to go. He's nearly the
length of the main straight ahead of Dane Kingshot. Third is Oldfield. Back then in fourth is Chris
Gore. Then Callum Williamson in fifth place as they go down the back straight once again. Oldfield
is in third place. Second is Kingshot as we come up with a lap to go. So one lap to go for the
race leader and this for an historic double here tonight on your Super Saturday. Caden Manders.
He is going to come out of turn number four into the main straight and come down and reign supreme.
Caden Manders wins. Dane Kingshot second. Third across the line is Oldfield just ahead of Coyle.
There we go back to Daniel Harding who got past Callum Williamson. Ladies and gentlemen he's
about to get up on the top wing. Your two-time West Australian champion. Put your hands together
for Caden Manders. And now your 64th West Australian sprint car champion driving the
Dasco Supply Group. QVEE number 71. Put your hands together for Caden Manders.
Yeah I can't believe it. The only guy I can think of is Daniel Harding you know and I look up to him
a lot. So yeah it's really cool to come out here and do this with these guys. I'm getting their
first sprint car win and my third. I really haven't won many but yeah it's it's badass. Anytime
you can beat the two car around here it's an awesome night. So stoked to do it. Thanks to
everyone that helps us. The whole crew. We all worked really hard on two cars. Liam worked really
hard during the week in the shop getting two cars ready and to come out here and sleep tonight feels
really badass.
