A Savior Is Born | Grandma's Christmas Story

Are you ready for the most wonderful story ever told? Yes, Grandma. Well, a long, long time ago before any of us were born, God made a beautiful promise. He promised to send someone very special, a Savior who would bring hope into the whole world. When the time was just right, God sent an angel named Gabriel to a young woman named Mary. Mary was in her little home in Nazareth when suddenly the whole room filled with a soft, heavenly light. And there stood the angel Gabriel, tall, gentle, and glowing like warm sunlight. And he said, Do not be afraid, Mary. You will have a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. Mary listened quietly, her heart full of trust. She believed God's promise. Soon after, Mary and her husband Joseph had to travel all the way to Bethlehem. They walked for miles and miles. Joseph carried a lantern to light the dark road, and Mary rode on a little donkey under the twinkling night sky. But when they reached Bethlehem, oh my, the town was crowded. Every house, every room, every inn, all full. Joseph knocked on door after door, but there was no place for them. What did they do, Grandma? Well, my love, a kind innkeeper finally pointed them to a quiet stable, a place where animals rested. And there, in that humble little barn, with hay on the ground and animals sleeping nearby, baby Jesus was born. Mary wrapped him in soft cloths and placed him in a manger, a tiny wooden crib for the King of the Universe. But that wasn't the only miracle. Far away, on a hillside, some shepherds were watching their sheep in the cool night air. Everything was peaceful, until suddenly the sky lit up with a bright heavenly glow. An angel appeared and said, For unto you was born this day in the city of David a Savior who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2.11 And then, oh children, the whole sky burst into song. Hundreds of angels filled the heavens singing, Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth. Wow! The shepherds ran as fast as they could, straight to Bethlehem. They found Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus lying in the manger, just as the angel had said. They knelt beside him, their hearts full of joy. And that, my loves, is why we celebrate Christmas. Jesus came into the world as a tiny baby, but he grew to be our Savior, our Helper, our forever King. He came to bring light and hope and love to every heart. So every time you see Christmas lights shining, remember, Jesus is the light of the world, and he came because he loves you more than you can ever imagine. Let us pray. Dear Jesus, thank you for coming into our world, tiny, gentle, and full of love. Please fill Zoe, Micah, and every child listening with your peace and joy this Christmas. Help us remember that you are the greatest gift we will ever receive. Amen.
