The move appears to be in preparation
for a Taiwan invasion. The Kev
Independent reported the story based on
leaked Russian documents obtained by
hackers. The documents say China has
reportedly purchased Russian aircraft,
combat vehicles, ammunition, and
equipment. The sale is a means to
bolster the Chinese military's
paratrooper and airborne units. The
Chinese military also bought armored
vehicles that can be air dropped from an
aircraft onto the ground. The deadline
for parts of the contract is 2027, the
year Chinese leader Xiinping said the
country's military should be ready to
invade Taiwan. China tried to conceal
its payments to Russian defense
manufacturers as the purchases are
subject to international sanctions.
Notably, military ties between China and
Russia have been growing. Earlier this
month, the two militaries conducted a
joint anti-missile exercise. This
follows their first ever joint submarine
patrol in the Pacific that was carried
out just months ago. Earlier this year,
leaders of China, Russia, and North
Korea appeared together at a massive
military parade in China. Ukraine's
presidential adviser said about 60% of
foreign parts found in Russian weapons
on the battlefield in Ukraine come from
China. A China expert warns that Russian
arm sales to China create challenges for
the US.
>> Russia has been consuming American and
European weapons in Ukraine while China
has been buying Russian arms for use for
potential conflict in the Indo-Pacific.
Sunn said Russian weapons could
strengthen China's military and shorten
the time needed to prepare for a Taiwan
invasion. He added that the US and
Taiwan need to re-evaluate the urgency
of the looming threat.
