Reviving Jyotisha - A Global Invitation | Abhigya Anand

Oṃ murtitve parikalpitaś caśa-bhṛto vartmā punar janmanām ātmē tyātma-vidām hṛduśca yajatām bhartā marajyotishām lokānām pralayodbhava-sthiti-vibhuścāni kadhāyaśhritau vācannasad-adhātmanaika-kiranaḥ trailokya-dīpona-vihī Thus opens the brilliant Varahamihira, his beautiful treatise of the Brihat Jataka in which he has so succinctly and profoundly put together the foundational truths of the Shastra in such a manner that no expert after him has ever been able to accomplish. And that says a lot about the golden era of Jyotisha when empires consulted it, when the most successful people in the world consulted Jyotisha for every step that made them successful. Even today successful people around the world consult Jyotisha. The upper echelons of society consult Jyotisha. Many of them do and a surprising lot of them do. However, it is the common man that has unfortunately been misled in either two directions by people who have willingly or unwillingly scammed them into either believing that Jyotisha is a complete pseudoscience and thus creating a complete blind spot for humanity and depriving the common masses of this understanding that could uplift them, that could give them a sense of pursuit in their life, a sense of purpose in their life. That has been taken away from them because of this. And another set of people who have been completely misguided by horrendous advertisement, by literal scams in the name of Jyotisha. Unfortunately, I have been a passive observer to this for the past four or five years, seeing thousands and thousands of people being misled in the name of Jyotisha, being scared to the bone and being sold spells. There is an app out there which sells spells in the name of Jyotisha. Just imagine the level of utter decadence and naked superstition that has overtaken this field. From a sense of scientific inquiry and intellectual beauty, it has come down to this position and I lament it every day. And I thought in the last few weeks, probably instigated by the divine will of the divine, I'm sure, we are all simply puppets in his hands, that I should try my little best to turn the tide on this. And hence, I felt that with the help of the experts of Jyotisha that might be hearing me today and the experts in other fields of modern science, we can restart a scientific inquiry into this field and bring it out to the public in such a manner that they can access the beauty of Jyotisha and the wisdom in their daily lives. And I think it is very much possible. We have to do it. We owe a lot to this field. I personally have benefited so much materially, spiritually and intellectually from this field. And I feel very sad when I see it go down like this in the eyes of the modern public. It is so much full of wisdom and yet it is treated so negatively. And not only is this field of Jyotisha slandered by the way it is being treated at the moment, every other field connected to Vedic philosophy is being slandered because Jyotisha is the eye of the Veda Purusha. And if Jyotisha is slandered, it is like the entirety of Vedic philosophy is being slandered. In fact, a lot of people use Jyotisha to slander Vedic philosophy and our spiritual path. So it's very important as our dharma to create a renaissance in this field with the grace of the divine. I do very strongly believe we can do this. And hence I invite the experts of Jyotisha listening to me in this video to please join us and let's bring out our collective wisdom to share with the people in the form of newsletters, videos or whatever it may be. Also, I would invite the experts in modern sciences, which are so very much needed today, be it engineering of AI models, data science, as well as video editing, UI and UX development, that is so very much needed in this day and age to convey these principles of Jyotisha in such a beautiful manner.
