Hey guys, what's up? Check out the new model I just designed. It is a jumping frog with 8
fingers and 10 toes and this is how it jumps. So this frog I folded from a 7 inch square of commie
but you could also fold it from a 10 inch square. I tried to make little toes on this frog but it
didn't really turn out so well so I'm just gonna keep them with pointy toes and you could also
make it out of 6 inch paper and it might even jump better. And these are my other attempts that I
made. That one didn't work. So ready, set, here goes. Alright, so begin right side up and fold
in half. As always try to make really precise folds and crease sharply and rotate and fold in half but
we're just going to make a pinch mark on this point right there and unfold and fold this edge
so that it touches the pinch mark.
And repeat. And here it is like this. Now we're going to take this flap and fold it to this edge.
This is a rather challenging model so if you're new to folding I really don't recommend it
but if you're up for the challenge, as always, let's continue.
And unfold, open this pocket, put your finger inside and squash and repeat. Turn over
and fold this flap up so that this edge aligns with this edge and we're folding on this pinch
mark. So it's like that and repeat. Turn over and fold this flap up and fold this flap down
and repeat. Now comes the fun move. Holding right here, pull the corner out. Fix it up if it's off
and now pull it out like that. And now holding here, pull this corner out and turn over. Now
this is going to be the front of the frog, this is the back and these are going to be the fingers
and toes. So we're going to fold this flap into fourths. So first turn over and fold this corner
to this point like that and repeat all the way around. All right, turn it back over
and fold this edge to this edge letting the flap swing out and repeat all the way around
and on this side. Now fold this flap to here and fold it over and repeat that all around.
And turn over and fold this flap to the crease and repeat that all around. Unfold those folds,
turn over and unfold the flaps. Now we're going to reverse fold it. So push it in right on the
crease. Well if there's not a crease, make one. So it's like that and now open it and reverse it
back out on the next crease and open again and reverse like that. And now take this flap and
fold it behind so it goes right into there and flatten like that. And now reverse fold here.
So we're going to bring these two edges together and these two edges like that and now open here
and just reach in and pull out the corner like that and fold in half. Fold the flap in half
like that and now we're going to reverse fold again. So take this flap and fold it up
and make the corner touch this point and this point and reverse fold in here. Okay we got one
narrow point like that and now we're going to reach in here and reverse fold it so that
this crease aligns with this edge like that and this crease aligns with this edge.
So it's like that from this side that's what it looks like and now reverse it on the existing
five toes. We'll narrow these later and repeat that on the other three flaps and I'm going to
to this crease and fold this flap to this edge. You don't need to fold the toes and turn over
and fold this edge to here letting the toes swing out. So it's like that and like that
and unfold that and turn back over and now we're going to fold the two sides
to the middle to this point and you can line it up with this edge and repeat and unfold
and turn over and now fold this flap up right on those two creases and unfold
and now fold the flap so that the fold originates here and it goes to
this crease and at the corner pinch like this and repeat and turn over and pinch
these two edges together and fold on these two creases and repeat and turn over and one last time
fold on the existing creases pinching here and here and folding in so that's what it looks like
now we're going to reverse fold these flaps so turn over and just wrap it over the edge like that
we can do one at a time and unfold it and reverse and reverse and repeat that
on this layer you could just fold it in like this or you can just make the reverse fold that's even
better you can align it edge to edge there and edge to edge there and repeat okay and now
holding here and here pull pushing this down and fold between these two points pinch pinch pinch
like that and this is the arm and repeat you can just push that in and fold like this okay
now unfold here so this is the crease pattern and just practice refolding it like that and unfold
again okay now a frog has four toes four fingers on each hand so we have five we need to get rid
of one how are we going to do that fold this flap like this and repeat just one flap one finger
and unfold and open the front layer and push it in pinch on that existing crease
like this and flatten and fold it over and now we're going to fold it tucking it into
one of these pockets so just open up the pocket whatever's easier and slide it in curl it in
now we're going to narrow this toe this finger right here so open it turn over
and now we're going to make a fold we're going to fold between this point and this point
like that and now fold this edge to the diagonal and that fold extends to right here this crease
okay so we have this and this and now collapse it like that and repeat so we're folding from
this corner to that point and folding this edge to the diagonal so it's like that and now collapse
it so it's like that all right so the arms are narrowed and we have four fingers on each arm
and now time to narrow the back we have four fingers narrowed we just need to narrow this one
and i recommend putting it inside you could fold it on the outside that might be easier
but i think it'll hold together a little bit better if you pull it inside like that and repeat
okay so those are the narrowed toes and now take this flap and we're going to open it and squash it
like that and now open up this little pocket you might want to put a
sharp object just to open it if you can't fit your finger in to open it and same on this side
now squash it so that the fold goes between these two points so it's like that and now
bring this flap up like this and squash and these are the eyes and now i recommend getting
some sort of round objects or a pen and you can insert it into the eye to make it nice and round
like that and shorten this so that it matches the upper jaw like that and if you want you can
and if you want you can sink this point so open it and sink it and now
reverse fold this flap push it in like that and push it in
so it's like that and i lost my eye and you can even stick the pen inside the frog
so that it opens up you can put a finger in there
all right now let's work on narrowing the fingers so make a fold a fingernail mark right
down the middle like that and try to narrow them make it go all the way on the arm so it's
like that and try to make the arm come out of the side of the frog so it's like this
and same on this side so we're pinching it like that
and just kind of pushing it so that it comes out the side
all right undo that and now we're going to spread the fingers apart so
are against the table now if you want you can try to spread out the the tips of the toes and
on this one that i folded from 10 inch i tried to do that but it didn't look very good so i'm
just going to keep them narrow like this so it's more like a dinosaur or some other creature but
anyway that's the completed frog arm and repeat on this side
okay now for the toes i haven't really actually finessed the back here i mean i'm trying different
sort of things if you want to try to make knees on the legs then you can do that more i think i'd
say we first try to get the jumping mechanism before we spread the toes out so um all right
we're gonna make a pleat here and i guess here this pleat is really experimental however you
want to do it but i'm going to make it just above this line so about right here and don't make it
very sharp just bend it like that it's so many layers i don't think you could make it sharp but
it doesn't need to be sharp anyway okay and now fold let's try to make knees on this so
we're gonna fold about like that so there are the two knees and now the legs come out
like that all right and now just shape the toes to taste once again i'm going to narrow it
and spread them out they don't need to be spread out as much as the hands just enough so that it
says five toes and bend it so that it's facing forwards and narrow them one more time
okay that's one foot and repeat and i'm going to fast forward this part
and reshape the eyes one last time and open up the mouth and now let's see how this little frog
jumps like this and yeah well it landed on its feet oh yeah yeah that jumps really well better
than all of them i've made so far yeah and it'll probably end up jumping a little bit less as you
go on but all right i hope you guys were able to make this frog and hope it jumps super well
and i'll see you guys later
