Gimmelwald is a tiny mountain farming village perched on a cliff edge at around 1367 m, looking out over the UNESCO listed Jungfrau-Aletsch area. Almost completely car free, it has kept its unspoilt alpine character, with flower decked chalets, small farms and wide open views of the Bernese Alps. It is also home to the historic Mountain Hostel and Pension Gimmelwald’s Honesty Shop - a small self service village store that runs entirely on trust and honesty.
From here, cable cars connect down to Stechelberg and up to Mürren and the Schilthorn, giving access to hiking, skiing and panoramic viewpoints in both summer and winter.
