Hi everyone and welcome back to the channel. I'm so excited to share today's project with you
because it's perfect for beginners and works up super quickly. We're making an adorable heart
patterned crochet coaster that's not only functional but also makes a great gift or
home decor piece. And here's a fun tip. This heart coaster design is super versatile. If you want,
you can easily increase the rows to make a beautiful placemat or even a potholder.
It's such a great project to scale up so stay tuned for all the possibilities.
In today's project, I am using light pink and white Himalaya Amigurumi yarn. I'll be using a
2.75 millimeter crochet hook which works perfectly for this pattern to give you that nice tight
texture. Before we jump into the tutorial, if you're enjoying what you see so far, make sure
to subscribe to my channel. That way you won't miss any future videos with more fun crochet
patterns. And if you try this project or have any questions, leave a comment below. I'd love to hear
your thoughts or see your creations. All right, let's not waste any more time. Grab your yarn
and crochet hook and let's dive into making this adorable heart-shaped coaster together.
I can't wait to see what you create. We'll start by making a magic ring.
Chain three, then work 12 double crochets into the ring. This will form the base of your coaster.
After the 12th double crochet, tighten the magic ring and slip stitch into the top of the first
chain to close the round. Chain three, then work one double crochet into the same space where you
slip stitched. Chain one and in the next stitch, work two double crochets. Continue this pattern.
Chain one, then work two double crochets in the next stitch.
Repeat this all the way around, making sure to chain one between each set of two double crochets.
When you reach the end of the round, chain one and slip stitch into the top of the first chain
to close the round. Chain three and then work two double crochets into the same space.
We're starting to create the heart shape, so follow me here. Chain one, then into the next
chain space, work three double crochets. We're adding a little more texture to the design.
Again, chain one, then in the next chain space,
work three double crochets. Keep going like this until you reach the end of the round.
After finishing the last double crochet group, chain one and then slip stitch into the first
space you made. This will complete the round. Chain three and into the same space,
work two double crochets. Chain one and then work another two double crochets to make a V-shape.
Next, chain one again and into the next space, work two double crochets, chain one,
and then another two double crochets. Keep repeating this all the way around,
making sure to chain one between each group of double crochets.
Once you reach the end of the round, chain one and slip stitch into the top of the first chain
to close the round. Chain three, then work one double crochet, chain one, and two double crochets
into the same space. In the next chain one space, work two double crochets, chain one,
and two double crochets.
Now, switch to the pink yarn while working the second double crochet.
From this point on, we'll carry both the pink and white yarns together.
Chain one and work three double crochets into the next chain space.
When you reach the third double crochet, switch to white yarn and continue with three double
crochets. Remember, after every set of three double crochets, make sure to chain one to
separate the groups. As you finish up the last group of double crochets, make sure to switch
back to pink when you start the next one. Now, we'll start forming the heart shape.
Work two double crochets into each chain one space, alternating colors as you go.
Continue this pattern, making sure to switch colors every three double crochets.
This will create the striped effect for the heart.
Keep alternating between pink and white yarns, working three double crochets in pink and two
in white. Chain one between each group. When you reach the end of the round,
make sure to complete the last chain space with three pink double crochets.
Once you finish the round, slip stitch into the first chain space to close.
Now, we'll continue adding more texture. Now, we'll start shaping the heart further.
Chain three, then work one double crochet into the same space. Chain one, and in the next space,
work two double crochets. Chain one, and in the next space, work two double crochets.
Then, switch to pink yarn and continue adding your double crochets.
Next, chain one, and using white yarn, work two double crochets into the next space. Remember to
chain one between each group and keep alternating your yarn colors, pink and white. Now, work three
double crochets in the same space where you worked three double crochets before, and then continue
adding more double crochet groups just like before. The shape is really starting to come together.
Now, let's work two double crochets into the space between the pink and white sections.
This will help shape the heart design. You'll notice that the three double crochets from the
row have now expanded to seven double crochets in this row. As you work the seventh double crochet,
switch back to the white yarn. This will create a smooth color transition.
Chain one, then work two double crochets into the next chain space. Chain one again,
and in the next chain space, work two double crochets. As you work the second double crochet,
switch back to the pink yarn. Chain one. Now, work two double crochets into the spaces on the right
and left sides of the pink section. Then, work three double crochets into the center of the pink section.
This will give you a total of seven pink double crochets. As you work the seventh double crochet,
switch back to the white yarn. Next, create two groups of two double crochets with one chain
between them. When you work the second double crochet of the next group, switch back to the
white yarn again. Chain one, and repeat the same steps as before. Notice how in the first pink row,
we had three double crochet groups between the pink sections. Now, in the second pink row,
we've reduced that to two groups. Continue this pattern all the way around. As you near the end
of the row, work two double crochets into the spaces on the right and left sides of the last
pink section. Then, work three double crochets into the center, totaling seven double crochets.
As you work the seventh double crochet, switch back to the white yarn.
Chain one, then join to the first chain with a slip stitch to complete the round.
Chain three. In the same space, work one double crochet, switching to the pink yarn as you do so.
Chain one. Now, work two double crochets into the spaces on the right and left sides of the
pink section. Then, work three double crochets into the center. In this row, we've increased
the seven double crochets from the previous row to eleven double crochets. As you work the eleventh
double crochet, switch back to the white yarn. Chain one, then work two double crochets into
the next chain space. As you work the second double crochet, switch back to the pink yarn.
Chain one. Work two double crochets into the spaces on the right and left sides of the pink section.
Then, work three double crochets into the center, totaling eleven pink double crochets.
As you work the eleventh double crochet, switch back to the white yarn.
Chain one, then work two double crochets into the next chain space. As you work the second double
crochet, switch back to the pink yarn. Repeat these steps all the way around. You'll notice
that the number of double crochet groups between the pink sections has now been reduced to one.
At the end of the row, chain one and join to the first chain with a slip stitch to complete the
round. Chain one. Work one single crochet into the next stitch. From this point, we'll work entirely
in pink, so you won't need to carry the white yarn underneath. Now, work nine triple crochets
into the next space. Skip two spaces, then work one single crochet.
Skip two spaces again and work nine triple crochets into the next space.
Work one single crochet into the top of the second white double crochet. This completes
the first heart motif. Repeat this pattern all the way around. Work nine triple crochets,
skip two spaces, work one single crochet, skip two spaces, and repeat.
At the end of the row, join to the first chain with a slip stitch. Now, let's switch back to the
white yarn. Chain one, then work one double crochet into the front loop of the next two white stitches.
Work a slip stitch into the top of the first triple crochet group.
Chain one, then work another slip stitch into the next triple crochet.
Repeat this pattern around the group of nine triple crochets.
Chain one, then work another slip stitch into the next triple crochet. Repeat this pattern
around the group of nine triple crochets. Continue working slip stitches and chains
around each group of nine triple crochets.
Repeat these steps all the way around. When you reach the end,
fasten off both the pink and white yarns. To finish, weave in the ends. Start by joining the
white yarn with an invisible join. Insert your hook into the front loop of the first stitch,
pull the yarn through, and weave in the tail.
And there you have it. A beautiful heart-patterned coaster. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and
