Brazil 🇧🇷 vs. Italy 🇮🇹 - Highlights | Week 1 | Women's VNL 2025

Here we go. Italy, world number one on the left side, taken on Brazil. World number two in Brazil. Lorena with the first serve for Brazil. The 25-year-old middle blocker. She goes line to Silla as well. Similar strategy to Grady. Cross court with the absolute. She came in off the bench in their match against Germany and put up 16 points. She earned the starting outside. Looking for another one. This time takes a little speed off it. Grady makes Brazil pay for a softer serve. A beautiful handle on the pass that gets a quick outside. Tempo set going, set a little bit off. This is in the world to play volleyball. Unless you're Brazil. Oro feeding up Silla. Defense good from Ana Cristina. And Bergman looks to go high off hands. Instead, she finds that big Italian block. But you need to make sure that you're swinging high with it. Julia Bergman is finding out just how big that is. Far. Again, magnet on Ana Cristina. And it works. Italy's block is incredibly disciplined, even when Brazil is offensive. Tanezi goes down the middle. And the block is ready. This Italian unit, when it's functioning. There's no team that can touch them when Italy is firing because of the physicality they have. I saw a couple of fans with signs saying the cheese bread's better than pizza. Heavy debate. Yeah. Heavy debate in this building. I don't know. Both are so good. Yeah, we're not even talking volleyball at this point. Just Italy versus Brazil in any way. How can they win? Well, tough when they go into firing like that. I think the way that they're adjusting, they're trying to test out the block. But now they're realizing just how big it is. Continuing to try to swing high. Well, speaking of swinging high. Yeah, Italy's offense has been incredibly balanced. They've gotten everyone going because of passing. In line again. She's been playing in Conigliano since 2020. Arguably the best club volleyball team in the world. But Ana Cristina of Fenerbahce. That allows four options to have. Sideline like a cat. Ready to pounce. Pouncing is auto. Establish yourself as an option so that the blockers can't guess. Let's see if Brazil makes that adjustment. Down by five points is the home team. They've got four with Bergman on the right side. Very quickly right out of the timeout. Still set point Italy. Ball is in. Ace serve from Julia. What a time to get it. Passive serve at a perfect time for Brazil. Putting it right on the end line. One more chance to take this set. Italy. To Antropova. And she will get it done. What a first set from Italy. Antropova fresh off the bench. Not yet to be determined. Here we go. Brazil on the serve. Bergman going at Silla. Grotti takes some pace off of it. Ana Cristina finds herself in the big hands. Lorena. Gets her serve going. If you give her even a slight seam to hit through, she's able to rip it. Crowd. Flat serve on Silla. She responds with a little thank you very much. I love the way Silla plays. It's a hard killer and easy tip. She gets her team going. And it's interesting they're serving towards her. The setters are both sides. You have to watch them and think about what they might be trying to do with their game. Set one with the offense was balanced. The backcourt not taking as great of time. 12 points apiece. Back to the right side again. Oh, that is a beauty. There's not much you can do with swings like that. They have to make sure they're cleaning it up on their side. Three service errors already from Brazil. Just in this set alone. Whereas Italy getting those big blocks. They need to clean it up. And not handily have their points so far. Tighter set here in the second. Scott Berglund. Julia. Goes for it. Deep corner on Silla. Can be. Back to Antropova. And she has the same type. Watch her come in and also take over matches. How about an ace serve as well. Antropova. Brazil's side. Pays off. Perfect pass. And Berglund on the right. For Brazil. Down now by three in the second set. Three points. And Christina. She gets it back off the hands of the block. Good recycle from far. Antropova. Does she tag it? Yes, she does. It's one of the best. Again, good touches by the front court of Italy. De Janato. Basically a free ball. And that's what you get. What an adjustment. Six of them. Great defense. Chance to finish it here. Antropova. Does it with style off the hands of the block. And Italy with the authority. Set number three underway. Brazil trying to get past. But Dainese says no thank you. Italy's block has been so good this season. Most amazing. All the accolades. That'll do. Have that slight advantage. Here's another look at it. I don't think I see a finger moving. No, it doesn't look like it. And it wouldn't be that kinky, but. Up in there. Just a different look in that passing lineup. And Christina stepping out of it. She will come back into swing, though. It doesn't matter. Dainese is ready and waiting. Solo stuff from Dainese. Feet there. Sees the shoulder in the line of approach. And dives the hands right back in. A big move changes. Antropova and Giovannini on the court. As can be. Defense looks good from Silla. Ball's up. De Janato to Antropova. Trying to work hands. Doesn't matter. The block is good. And Brazil tie it up again. Helena. You're not used to seeing that speed of the offense from a center. That's her from Giovannini. Bergman. In the middle. Helena handles that beautifully. Lorena. Cross court. Not yet. And the response on Camby. She did it. And now it's Brazil. Solid serve. Silla is targeted again. She'll respond with a swing. And another block by Brazil. Here we go. Set point. Match point. Italy. Tough serve. Free ball coming. Chance for Riganu to swing. No. She goes two hands. Kept in play. Helena has a swing. Doesn't go down. One more time. And it will. And Brazil have saved. Match point. On Italy's side. Match point. Italy. Helena. Cross court. Easy pick up. Riganu. Another tip. Pancake. What a goal for Brazil. No libero on their court. Lorena. On Silla. Quick to Denezzi. Touches. Here comes Riganu one more time. In the hands. And on the floor. Brazil get the block. Brazil set point to force a fourth. De Janato. Of course. Perfect pass. Riganu. In the hands. There's the recycle. Going again. One more time. Degradi. Doesn't take any heat off it. Ana Cristina. Not yet. Oh, Degradi. What a clutch swing by her. Solid serve from Italy. Tip. Doesn't fall. Pressure from Riganu off the hands. And the balance. Match point. Number four is an ace. Serve for Paola Riganu. And that is it. Three sets to zero. The world number one takes down Brazil in Brazil.
