Classification of Amino acids (memorize!)

Amino acids are classified according to the nature of their side chains: non-polar, polar uncharged, positively or negatively charged, and aromatic. Non-polar groups are hydrophobic; polar groups form hydrogen bonds; charged groups participate in ionic interactions; aromatic groups absorb UV, proteins.
