Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) presents a live symphony performance as part of the 2025 Europe Days series in partnership with the European Economic and Trade Office. Conductor Emeritus Shao-Chia Lü makes a long-awaited return with with Chun-Chieh Yen to play Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No.24 in C minor.” Widely considered to be his finest work, this piece is technically demanding, and calls for strong emotional depth to convey its dramatic, fatalist tone. Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 in E major opens the second half of the program with a tribute to the richness of European musical culture. The slow introduction is typical of Bruckner, followed by the magnificent and grand orchestral sound found in his symphonic works. Anton Bruckner’s background as an organist explains why these rich layers of musical texture seem to be building a Gothic church within the score. After its premiere in 1884, this piece became one of his most popular symphonies and was even hailed as his pinnacle work. The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), under the leadership of its Conductor Emeritus Shao-Chia Lü, will lead audiences to glimpse the profound and enigmatic world of Bruckner’s music.
