Kendall Katwalk is a 14-mile out-and-back hiking trail in Snoqualmie Pass, WA. Located in the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest, this gorgeous trail is a go-to for Seattle residents and surrounding areas.
Kendall Katwalk features forests, boulder fields, ridges, lakes and beautiful campsites throughout the trail. Including a few right by the lake.
If you are planning on going on a weekend, get there early as this is a VERY popular trail and the parking lot will overflow. If you are starting in the morning, most of the trail will be on the shade and only at about mile 5.5 you will feel the sun. The last 2 miles to the lake are the most beautiful, the true katwalk along the ridge with stunning views of the surrounding peaks and mountains.
It was the most beautiful drive this morning to get to Candle Catwalk in Snoqualmie.
The weatherman was totally wrong. We have blue skies, no rain, should be about 14 miles
and 3,000 feet of elevation so not too bad and has ridges and lakes so should be a good day.
Let's go. A few things just occurred to me. It's Saturday. This trail is really busy. I had to park
almost outside of the parking lot. This whole side of the mountain is in the shade
because I haven't seen any sun yet although it's right there but I'm pretty hot. Keeping about a
20 minute per mile pace is pretty good and this is my first time hiking with the Hyperlite
Southwest 40 liters and everything the internet says about this pack is true. This is a very
light backpack. It's really easy to pack. The waist belt pockets are huge with my phone, my wallet,
my keys, airpods and yeah my back is super sweaty. It's a frameless backpack. It's almost like I'm
carrying nothing so that's great. Okay oh my god this is mile 5.7 and look at this view.
This is so so beautiful. Made it to the lake. It's a beautiful place. I had time to eat my salmon dip
which I will never pack again. It stinks. Entire backpack. Did my doodle of what I was seeing around
me and I'm already in the car and the way back was really really crowded. I don't think I went
five minutes without seeing a person. It's a beautiful Saturday in August in Washington.
It's summer. I'm glad I got here super early and if you want to beat the crowds and get a campsite
up there somewhere definitely come early because if you come mid morning
there's no way you're gonna get a campsite. There's a lot of people here. The parking lot's
packed and I had a realization while I was out there is that you and me we already have the
answer. We just have to act on it whether it's to lose weight or get a new job. We already know what
we have to do. We just got to do it and in my case it's starting this youtube channel hike your hike.
Wanted to do it for a long time just never got around to do it and it came down to
fear of embarrassment what people are going to think about me but screw it I'm doing it and
I'll see you next time.
