Dad is gone and we have a flat tire on our 2016 Cadillac Escalade! With the help of a new friend, we have 30 minutes or less to get the spare on and Mom to her appointment on time. The snow in Breckenridge, CO, adds another element to our repair.
You guys are probably wondering what we do when we get a flat tire
someplace where we're not familiar with our mechanic or somebody who we know to
replace the tire. So we kind of got to do it ourselves and
that's actually the case we have right now.
We have a bubble in our front tire and we got one of the campground heroes, Mr.
Bob, helping us out. That's right. We're going to replace the
tire. Well we're going to put the spare on
because where we are they're pretty proud of their tire prices.
It'll cost us about $250 more to get the tire fixed here
than if we just go to the Costco and so we're going to put our spare on. We have
a really good spare and then I've ordered the tire from
Costco and in a couple days we'll be able to have that taken care of.
But between now and then we've got to do life and
we got a pretty good bubble on the front tire from hitting a pothole.
Those of you that live in colder weather climates you know what those potholes
look like after a good amount of winter. We fell
victim to that and here we go. So this is our front tire
and it's got this nice little bubble. If I go from on top you can see how it
sticks out. It's about two inches or so. We're going
to get this thing fixed. We've got Willis back here getting ready
to get going and Mr. Bob, one of our amazing new
friends here to help us. Of course it took an act of
Congress to get the jack out. While we appreciate
everything being tucked away neatly it took a minute to get all of that out.
And now to access the spare we had to pull a panel off and now we have to have
a special key to get in there.
It worked! Is the spare in there or what's that?
That'll lower the spare down. Oh it drops it.
I haven't. I'm used to opening. I moved all that stuff in the back because I
thought we would open the backup and the tire would be in
the well. That's what I'm used to. Well thank you Cadillac company for
making it fancy.
So the tire repair is going pretty smoothly. It's been kind of a crazy day
for me especially. I have a mortgage business and I've just
got a couple files that just are relentless. So I've spent all morning
doing that and then now needing to do this and
we're kind of on a time crunch. I've got to leave here
at 1 15 to go to an appointment in town that I can't reschedule
and I think we've got about 30 minutes so I think we're gonna get it done
though. But you know what guys that's just how
life is some days right? This is out of our control we just got to go with the
flow and I'm so thankful to have friends that are willing to help. We'll get it
done. We forgot to video but we got all of our stuff except the
tool bag we got all these metal bars and the jack that
he's using in here. They have a nice storage
compartment and what happens is that goes like that and all of this
fits inside. It's really nice. That's where we got all
this stuff from. We don't have to carry it around. It fits right in the car
which is quite nice and that's probably the coolest tire drop down I've ever seen.
I wasn't expecting it. I was because I've changed the tire before but
it is extremely cool and I love to watch it every time. It's so fun.
It's like where's the spare tire? It's so cool.
Yeah we definitely drive on some terrain don't we between
roads with potholes because of snow or if we're kind of a little
little four by four. I mean we can't we don't go crazy because we don't want to
get our car scratched. We've gone crazy before
though. Well yeah if it's bumpy it's no big deal.
So yeah let's go pay attention.
There's a little jack tucked down under there.
That's incredible. All right bye-bye. You can see it from the front. The
little R stands out. Get out from above. Yeah and you can totally see it.
Okay. All right.
Let's grab not the cleanest thing in town but
285, 45, 22. 25, 70. 17. What? Yeah you got different tires on here.
That's not gonna work is it? Oh my goodness.
So we're getting the spare put on. We have upgraded our tires apparently
and so the spare isn't exact as far as all the little numbers that you read
on the tire well but it's going to be fine.
It's going to allow me to get to town this afternoon which is like four miles
away and back and then I already ordered the tire last
night. We should have it really soon and we'll be able to get you know get
this taken care of. Not perfect but it's going to be good
enough.
All right. We'll see you tonight Bob. Thank you.
All right. All right. Just like that we're done for the moment.
I feel like I could do that on my own now that I was a part of this pit crew
today. I knew kind of how to do it. We had to
replace it actually up Montana one time. Doug showed me how to do it so I pretty
much knew what to do but I'm very thankful.
We had Mr. Cobb. Me too. He had the power tools but we were on a time crunch but we
got it done. Mom's going to go to her appointment with her tiny wheel
so if you guys enjoyed make sure to hit that subscribe button. Smash the like
button. Stay tuned for the next adventure
because you never know what trouble we get into.
As you see we get into some crazy things sometimes. Wrong sized tire that we've
been carrying around with us for years. Like seriously come on. So other than
that we hope you guys have a great day and we'll see you on the next adventure.
