Have you ever looked back at your old outfits, wardrobe pieces, and ever think to yourself,
why did I even wear that? That's what these 10 items are for me personally. Things that just
made my style feel boring, kind of lazy, as well as just not me anymore. And if you've been feeling
like you're in a style rut, honestly, I really hope this video helps you guys. Some of these
pieces are just overdone trends. Some didn't work for my petite frame. And honestly, others were
just plain, just lazy dressing. And I also want to point out just because these items were just
boring for me, that doesn't necessarily mean that these items are boring. They could work for other
girls and be fabulous for them. And at the end of the day, all that matters is how you feel in your
clothes. And if you feel great, who cares what is trending, what's not trending, what may be boring
to somebody can be great for someone else. So I just wanted to point that out. The first thing
that I don't think is really me anymore are overalls. This was an overdone trend. I purchased
the Free People Ziggy overalls. I actually still have them. So for me, I think it works depending
what I'm doing. So if I'm out in my garden, I feel like that makes sense. But I was wearing it for me
as everyday wear. I was trying to find many ways to style this. And I feel like I was trying way
too hard to make it work. And it just felt kind of boring and not me. And I wanted to love these.
I feel like they're cute in theory, but I honestly just felt like a little toddler them, especially
since I'm already like five foot one. They were also too casual and just didn't feel elevated
enough for me. Instead, what I so much more enjoy are rompers. I feel like I've been a broken record
all summer. But essentially, it's a very similar silhouette. It's just like a one piece. But
obviously, I'm not wearing like a tank or T-shirt underneath this. But it is in the styles that I
pick are more polished and elevated and tailored, not super dressy. It's definitely not casual, but
it's something that looks more intentional. I also love a nice tailored jumpsuit. Those look
fabulous as well. So for me, those are much better options. Next up are wrap cardigans. First off,
they look like a rope to me. I fell in love with this one particular one. When I got it in,
it was just one too big. And then second, it looked like a robe. I just couldn't get past that.
I tried so hard styling it in cute and chic ways. Nothing was working. And also when I would wrap
it around my body, it just didn't wrap seamlessly and just bunched in really awkward places. So
instead, I would wear these cardigans from Quince. I mentioned many times they look and feel so much
more expensive. They don't look like a robe and they fit my petite frame so much better. And I
don't have to constantly be adjusting them. I can wear it buttoned or unbuttoned and it's just so
much of a better look than a wrap cardigan. Okay, the next one is definitely a trend that I fell
for. I just such a waste of my popcorn cardigans. Okay, honestly, you look at them, they already look
like they're worn out, like something that's been in your dresser for like a decade. And then it just
looks pilled. I mean, that's the intentional styling of it. It's just very bubbly and pilly
and it just looks so, so sloppy. I added bulk to my petite frame and there was just like no
flattering shape or structure to it. Now, and it just made every outfit feel just quite frumpy,
to be honest. And the fabric just looked horrible too. Next up are ripped denim shorts. Now, these
always looked undone and kind of in a sloppy way. And I get denim shorts that have like the raw
hemming. That's fine, but I'm actually talking about like actual holes in the denim shorts where
they're very distressed. And also a denim that is too distressed doesn't age well style wise. I mean,
it's a very trending item that goes in and out of style all the time. And to me, it doesn't look
sleek, refined, polished. But instead I go for denim shorts that have no rips in them. I also
like sleek, tailored shorts. So just the easiest swap is just buying styles that I already liked,
but just non-ripped versions. Another super trending thing I completely got suckered into
are tunic tops. Years ago, there's this particular one from Free People. I don't know why. I looked
like a sack of potatoes. Like, it was just horrible. I, it was definitely, I saw it on so
many bloggers on Instagram and I was like, of course, oh my god, I have to have it. I got it
and I paid like an insane amount of money for this. I think it was over a hundred dollars, which is
stupid. I guess I was too lazy to return it. I don't know. I tried to make it work and convince
myself it looks great. And I always just felt blech in it. Every time I wore this, it just erased my
shape. It made me feel heavier and messier. The color wasn't also great as well. Full on stretchy
jeans and let's just call it what it is. Jeggings. Okay. The only time I think these are okay to wear
and have done this is during pregnancy. These, like being pregnant, finding clothes that fit
is such a struggle and especially jeans. Like jeans, it's pretty much you can't wear them. So,
but jeggings. Now I purchased a pair from Amazon. They worked amazing while I was pregnant
and postpartum. So that's my only exception with these. But as far as style and when I'm not
pregnant, I definitely opt for classic 99% or a hundred percent cotton denim jeans like my Goldies,
Levi's, Madewell, Abercrombie. Next up are cheesy graphic sweatshirts. Now graphic sweatshirts
personally are not for me, but I have seen very stylish, polished, really cool looking ones. And
if that's your style, that's fabulous. But I'm just talking about like really cheesy ones. So let me
insert this photo here. That's me and my baby. This was about six years ago actually. And this
mama bear. Okay. While it was cute, this is my first kid in this picture. And first time mom,
I was so excited. I gave myself free pass here. Okay. And any first time mama free pass,
but it does look corny. It does look quite cheesy. Instead, if you want to have something that shows
your mom, have these bracelets that I wear with all of my kids' initials here. I think that is
so much better. You can also get a cute necklace, which I have two that says mama on it. All these
pieces, by the way, from Ana Luisa, I can link it below. I think that's a much better, like more
classy and stylish way to do that. Next up, poor quality knits. Biggest culprit you guys is H&M.
I've done a video on their clothing last year and they are knits. Maybe it was that particular
season, but the haul that I did and what I picked up from their site, like the worst quality knits
I've ever put on my body. They're itchy as heck. They like fuzz and pill quickly. They feel horrible.
Sure. They're like $15, $20, but instead of getting like five really cheap shirts, get yourself one
good or two good quality knits and brands like Quince, like this organic cotton sweater is
incredible, holds up well, doesn't pill. It looks and feels very expensive and it's $50. So I would
much rather recommend you guys just buying one nice one versus like four very cheap ones. Since
then, I spent all this money way back when on very cheap knits and ended up getting rid of them and
then still spending that money and getting something higher quality. So it's so much better.
Just be patient, save your money and buy just a few really nice ones because honestly, at the end
of the day, your cost per wear is going to be much lower. You're not going to get rid of them. They're
going to last so much longer. So guilty for this next one over wearing athletic clothing as daily
wear. And I think this just kind of came with me being a mom of three and thinking like I have to
be like super comfortable and wear athleisure and I have to buy all these pieces. Well, yes, it works.
And yes, I do want to be comfortable taking care of kids all day. You can still do that and have
different pieces. It doesn't have to all be athletic clothing. Once I was wearing it all day, every single
day, I started kind of getting into a style rut. So when I didn't want to wear something that's
not athletic, I had such a hard time putting an outfit together. Leisure is great, but I definitely
think you should mix and match your wardrobe pieces and outfits and don't be stuck on to one
specific category. Have a mixture of different things. Do I wear athleisure outfits head to toe
from time to time? Absolutely. But that's not what I wear every single day anymore. Letting myself
be creative and not being stuck to one specific category has really helped me identify my personal
style. Next up, I say this is the last one because I don't know, I'm probably going to get a backlash
on this one. Maybe I think a lot of people might disagree with me on this. Leggings as pants I
really think made my style boring. Can I just be honest? Like it just it leggings are not pants.
I understand you can style them in super cool, chic ways. Let me insert some photos here.
Freaking love these. I think they look amazing. But there was a time I was constantly wearing
them all day at home, wearing them going out. And honestly, that's just so boring. There's so many
other fun styles to add into your wardrobe and mix and match different pieces. I mean, we have
so many different styles of bottoms you can choose. You can choose slim fitting trousers,
wide leg trousers, same thing with jeans, different fits, different colors. You can go
for skirts, you can go for jumpsuits, you can go for there's just so like, just my point,
so many more things to wear that are equally as comfortable, way more stylish and put together.
Leggings are a good thing to have when you're exercising. Really get that going to the gym,
going for a walk. While there are ways you can style leggings as pants, I would just encourage
you guys to maybe just wear them for athleisure. Push yourself to style other wardrobe pieces.
Try out different styles. Try out different silhouettes. The options are honestly endless
nowadays. And if you feel like you're in a style rut, try going through your wardrobe and editing
out the pieces that you think don't work for you anymore. I'm telling you, I think that'll really,
really help you give you some maybe more clarity like it did for me and help you discover your
style just that much more. Anyways, if you're new, subscribe for more videos like this. Give
this video a big thumbs up and I will see you in my next one. Bye!
