WINDSURFING PHILLIP ISLAND (EP 4)

A bit of a low pushing through and it's pushing a lot of rain through so we're just trying to
reassess what's going on here. We've got a low tide at surface but the waves are quite
disappointing. They're not that clean and I've opted for a much bigger sail because the wind's
kind of a bit light and fluky. This broom which I have kindly asked, I won't mention names,
snapped on me and it was fairly new. But yeah they know who they are and thanks guys I still
need that replacement. So it's broken here so obviously I can't extend it out as far
with the strength on both sides. So I'm going back to reverting back to the old yarn cruise boom
you'll be happy to get a mention. Thank you yarn. Fixed carbon boom. She did a fantastic repair on
the 5'5 square meter. This gives me an extra meter or so on the probably 4'7. I can only
adapt on that boom. Training for the Tassie crossing. Stay tuned for that one. Will it happen?
Let's make it happen.
This is the other side of windsurfing when things just don't line up. Tides are wrong.
Rain comes in. Kills the wind. Looking out here there's actually a bit of a set coming in now
but at times when I'm out there there's five to ten knots so I'm on some really big floaty
gear which is okay to get out in and out with but when the wind is on shore
it's pretty frustrating if you've got a waveboard and low leaderage and a small sail
which quite often us sailors experience, wavesailors. But all in all, whoop slipping down the hill
keep it natural. All in all it's still good training. It's good physical training.
It's probably harder work when you sail in conditions like this than when we have a good
25-30 knots and then when you've got 40 to 45 knot gusts that's hard work again. But
yeah for me I just sometimes like going out in all conditions preferably over 20 knots
and I'm not too fussy with the wave choice. If it's messy it's messy. If it's clean that's great
but I just like to be moving. It's kind of frustrating when you stop start stop start or
you're just dredging all the time. What we call dredging where you bog down. There's not much
happening but otherwise it's okay.
