job interviews can be scary especially
if it's your first one it can feel like
you're on trial with your dreams at
stake why do you think you'd be a good
fit for this job I think it will make
all my dreams come true and if I don't
get it I will
never emotionally recover from this when
it comes to your next interview there's
no reason to be scared having a plan
makes all the difference not only in
your own confidence but also in the
success of the interview so today we
give you three tips on how to interview
and what to do
after number one prepare before you show
up study up you don't want to get
halfway through your interview and
realize you don't know what the company
does tell me what is your favorite thing
that our company
does well my favorite thing is your
company
does it's
prob probably all of it look up the
company's website and learn who they are
what they stand for and their mission
statement don't just look up the company
look up the specific job you are
interviewing for having a good
understanding of the job and how your
own skills fit will give you confidence
and the right words to say it's also
important to know your own Public Image
I know that sounds like something only
celebrities have but if you have social
media you have a Public Image and
there's a good chance the interviewer
will look you up it's a good idea to
remove all embarrassing posts and photos
like the picture of you crowds surfing
or that post complaining about your
grandma yeah going to go ahead
and delete those next before you go to
the interview practice look up sample
interview questions online and think
about answers think of examples for why
you would be a good fit for the role how
you've overcome problems in the past and
what some of your past accomplishments
are practice explaining your resume and
think about your facial expressions and
your body language you don't want to
accidentally send the wrong message with
with your face so practice smiling and
looking positive and finally when it
comes to preparation get all your
materials ready bring a copy of your
resume your cover letter and a list of
references number two present we all
know that first impressions make a big
impact and the first thing the
interviewer will see is how you're
dressed so dress to impress this is not
the time to wear your favorite graphic
tea or wrinkly Polo nice shirt thank you
thank you it's family heirloom it's
better to air on the side of
overdressing remember the saying dress
for the job you want not the job you
have next arrive early this shows
responsibility and respect for the
interviewer's time then when it's time
to start kick things off with a firm
handshake a pleasant smile and eye
contact once you've established positive
energy try to maintain it throughout the
interview and stay calm if the
interviewer asks you a question that
totally stumps you don't panic so if you
come up with an idea for a leing Edge
product how are you going to get over
the wall to your
colleagues just take a deep breath and
take your time coming up with the answer
if you are still unsure about the answer
ask the interviewer for clarification
whatever you do just don't make up
answers if my Edge was bleeding I would
probably get a Band-Aid and uh leap over
said wall like a like a
spider if you don't understand the
question the odds of you making up the
right answer are very low so just don't
try be honest and ask for clarification
also having thoughtful questions ready
to ask shows that you care and are being
proactive it could be a question about
the team that you'll be working with or
maybe the mission statement of the
company just avoid asking about salary
what kind of money are we talking here
it's best to wait on that question once
the interview is coming to a close
finish strong wrap up by giving them a
firm handshake and think thanking them
for the opportunity then ask about next
steps before you walk away don't forget
to push your chair in pushing in the
chair shows mindfulness and respect the
kind of things that employers are
looking for number three follow up a lot
of people think once the interview is
over they're done it's just time to sit
nervously and hope something good
happens but it's not done following up
can make all the difference after the
interview later that day or the next day
send an email to the interviewer
thanking them for their time thank you
for your time if you don't hear back by
the date they said they would make an
offer it's okay they may make an offer
to someone else but that person may not
take the job so give them a little time
to work things out put a note on your
calendar to follow up one week after the
date they said they would give back to
you if you haven't heard back when that
date comes send a note to the
interviewer express your interest and
excitement for the role say something
positive about the organ organization
and ask if there's any additional
information that you can provide to be
helpful let them know you look forward
to hearing back soon I am very
interested in this
job I look forward to hearing back
soon send at that point you've done all
that you can do so take a deep breath
and give yourself a pat on the back you
won't get every job you interview for
but if you follow these steps you can go
into any interview with confidence
knowing that you're giving yourself the
best chance to succeed
so let's review how to interview and
what to do after number one prepare do
your research and practice number two
present dress to impress and carry
yourself with confidence number three
follow up send a thank you email and
remind them about your excitement for
the job thank you for watching this
how-to video for prageru we hope you
learn something new and we'll see you
next time well uh that's my
