How do you teach your child to stand up to peer pressure? When Leo and Layla travel back in time to meet Daniel from the Bible, the sibling duo learns a lesson about courage and conviction when they discover how Daniel bravely faced the lions' den for standing up for his faith in God.

H I guess I see
it no I'm just lying to myself hey Leila
can I borrow your whoa what is going on
uh can you knock I'm sorry but what's
the deal with your hair you look kind of
like the goblin character in my computer
game thanks a lot Leo what are those
things they're called extensions all the
girls at school are wearing them do you
want to wear them no but I feel like I
have no choice today the popular girls
pointed at me and laughed if I don't
give this new hairstyle a try I don't
know if I can go back to school The
Bullying will just get worse and worse
that stinks H I know that I don't like
being pressured into doing something
that's Middle School Leo you'll
understand when you're older but what
about being brave doesn't the bible
teach us not to be afraid of what people
think or say about us you know it does
Leo if I'm going to go against what
people expect of me I need some
encouragement and speaking of the Bible
I know just the person to go and visit
[Music]
what was that I think it's a lion it
sounds like it's coming from that pit
over there let's check it
[Applause]
out thank goodness they can't get out
now let's focus on why we're here excuse
me sir we hate to interrupt but we're
looking for Daniel can you tell us where
to find him yes I'm Daniel excellent I'm
Lea and this is my brother Leo yeah we
time traveled here for some advice on a
problem advice why I've been an adviser
to several kings first King
Nebuchadnezzar then King Bazar and now
King Darius I'm sure I can help go on
tell him Leila oh all right all the
girls at my school have this new
hairstyle and they want me to wear it
too but the problem is I don't want to
wear it but if I don't Join the Herd the
other girls will tear me to shreds what
should I do oh I've been in your
situation a number of times
where do I begin ooh how about you start
where the king of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar
took you and your Jewish people away
from Jerusalem I just learned about it
in Sunday school I must say I'm
impressed yes I was just a teenager when
Nebuchadnezzar attacked my homeland of
Judah and then brought me and my fellow
Jews here to Babylon to serve him our
land promised and given to our ancestors
by God has been a place of our heritage
and Faith it's where Abraham settled
where King David ruled and where Solomon
built the temple as a dwelling place for
the Lord though we were taken captive
and exiled I know that our people will
once again inhabit the land of our
ancestors that must have been really
hard to be taken away from your Homeland
but now I'm curious how' you go from
being a captive to a royal advisor well
in my younger years I was pretty
goodlooking and smart too Nebuchadnezzar
wanted men who were fit to serve in this
Palace and who could quickly learned the
Babylonian language and culture why did
he want that he thought he could scrub
us of our Jewish identity by giving us
new names impressing us with rich food
and wine and forcing us to learn a new
way of life he hoped we would forget all
about our old culture and starts
following only Babylonian habits and
rules oh man a king's Feast would
probably convince me pretty fast it
certainly was a tempting banquet but
even though I could have gotten into
trouble I refused us all the king's food
and wine why on Earth did you do that
because I knew that I couldn't eat from
the king's table and still please God
because the food was a part of their
Pagan rituals instead I asked permission
for myself and my Jewish friends to only
eat vegetables and drink water for 10
days yuck I'd Rather Have Nothing than
eat vegetables for 10 days that must
have been tough it wasn't so bad plus I
had to eat something I had to stay
strong and healthy in order to stay in
favor with the King as well as with God
I couldn't allow myself to become weak
and sickly so how did you feel after
eating rabbit food for 10 days excellent
as a matter of fact we looked and felt
so good that they permanently changed
our diet to vegetables wow the first fad
diet I'm not sure about that but what I
do know is that I could have taken the
easy path and eaten like a king but
instead I trusted in God's outcome I
stayed committed to God and he took care
of me you don't have to compromise just
because you're afraid Leila I know but
it's easier said than
done uh we should probably leave soon
these lions sound pretty hungry wait
just one more question why do you prey
by a pit full of lions are you also the
Royal animal trainer no actually I was
supposed to be their dinner don't you
mean bring them dinner nope they were
supposed to eat me wait what I know
shocking right I'm still processing it
all what happened well some of King
darius's administrators grew to dislike
me and my popularity with the King they
thought I would be better served as cat
food than to serve the king but you seem
like such a nice person why thank you
the king thought so too he and I have
actually become pretty close in fact he
promoted me this bothered some of the
king's advisers they even tried to dig
up dirt on me but they couldn't find any
so what did they do they made a law they
knew I would break why would you break
the law well because the king's law went
against God's law let me explain knowing
I prayed to God three times a day the
men who hated me proposed to the king
that anyone who prayed to any God or man
other than the king in the next 30 days
should be thrown into the lion's dead
and the King agreed he did so what did
you do well I'm very committed to
praying so I just prayed weren't you
afraid of them coming after you sure but
I was even more concerned about serving
God wow that's so brave of you thanks
ilila I know that my life is always in
God's hands and I counted on that even
when they locked me up with the hungry
Lions I thought you said the King was
your friend how did he let this happen
well he did try to stop it but here in
Babylon once the king makes a law it can
never be altered not even if he changes
his mind later on but you're out here
now still alive how God knew I was
innocent so he protected me he sent his
Angel who kept the lion's mouth shut all
night I'm sure everyone was pretty
surprised when you were still alive oh
they sure were early in the morning just
as the sun was coming up I heard the
distressed voice of the king calling my
name and I said May the King live
forever he probably thought you were a
ghost oh perhaps but once he realized
that I was truly still alive he was
thrilled and had me released from the
Lion's Den to everyone's surprise I
didn't even have a scratch on me so
that's why you were praying at the
Lion's Den when we got here that's right
once again because I didn't compromise
my faith and stayed fully committed to
God he protected me from harm and I'm
sure he'll do the same for you Leila
thanks so much Mr Daniel I know what I
have to do now may God bless and keep
you
both that's so much better hey sis you
look like yourself again what why how
how did you go ahead and laugh I don't
care visiting Daniel made me think about
how I can be bold and courageous I
thought I'd do that by putting this
green food coloring in my hair do I look
like a super
villain sort of and I'm not sure that's
what Daniel meant Leo he meant that God
helps us withstand pressure to do bad
things or things we don't agree with
it's not easy and it takes courage but
sometimes it's wise to stand out agree
want to go show Mom and Dad my new hair
do actually I do talk about walking into
the lion's
den Leo what did you do with your
hair if you like time traveling with Leo
