Walchenschlucht is one of our favorite gorges — we’ve been here before, and even paddled through it in our kayak. In places like this, especially on weekdays when the gorge is completely empty, you really feel the power of nature, and the gorge itself is one of its wonders. It’s amazing that such beauty is located less than an hour’s drive from Munich. We walked along the gorge, enjoyed the views of the Sylvenstein reservoir, and then took the private road toward Wallgau and continued via Walchensee back to Munich, stopping on the way in Kochel at an excellent Italian restaurant.
