It's 2 a.m. and You're Creeped Out at Your Boondocking Spot...What Now?!?

Hey everybody, it's Robin with Creativity RV and this is where I woke up today. I am at the biggest, loneliest, truck stop outside of Winnemucca, Nevada because my friends and I got a little creeped out at about two o'clock in the morning and had to leave our boondocking spot. So what happened was I was hanging out with a couple of my friends at a place in a gorge inside of Winnemucca that was a great boondocking spot. It looked great. The BLM guys actually came to visit us yesterday, knocked on the door, wanted to make sure we knew that it was a three-day limit. We said, yeah, we're leaving tomorrow. We've only been here a day. You know, it was right next to a town, which I've said before, I don't usually boondock really close to a town because people party there, but it was so clean and so great and we hadn't really seen anything that looked like it was going to be a problem. Well, I went to bed and about one o'clock in the morning there was a pound on my door and of course I was like, was that my door? Because I was sound asleep and it was my two friends and they clearly were all dressed to go and their lights were on and we were parked right next to each other like in tandem, almost like parallel. That's how we had to park to get into the spot. So a couple of people had come up and one of them had parked right in front of them, almost like blocking them. Now we were near a bathroom, but the guy didn't leave. They turned on all their lights and after a while he left and it creeped them out so they decided they wanted to go and you know, if they go, somebody has that feeling, I go. One thing that I've said a lot is if you get a bad feeling, you go. I've never left any spot at two o'clock in the morning. I was sound asleep. I didn't hear the guy. I didn't see the guy, but I trusted the judgment of my friends. Now if you guys haven't heard of the Trekker Path app, let me turn you on to this thing. It's in my arsenal of camping options for situations just like this. Let me show you how it works because this is how I found this huge safe truck stop that I'm in right now. Look at all these spaces and I felt totally safe here last night. So I'm going to pop inside because it's starting to rain and show it to you guys. This is Trekker Path. I keep it right here next to my other camping apps and it's very cool. I never ever would have found this spot without it, so I want to show you guys. I am on a little tiny highway where if I had gone to one of the RV apps, most of these things would never have been on here. So you can see it already found me. I'm this little blue dot right here and here's where I am. It will tell me about this truck stop and what I like about it is it gives reviews and the reviews say that people say it's very safe, which it was, and it says how many spots are there because you guys know I interviewed a lot of truckers, which is how I found out about this app for the two videos I did about driving safety and staying at a truck stop. And I am an advocate of never taking a Trekker spot because it keeps our highways safer to make sure that they have spots first to pull over because they have to. And so this helps because I can see how many spots there are in a truck stop and what the reviews are. But not only that, this doesn't just give me truck stops, it gives you places to pull over, way stations. I actually was going to try and make it up to this rest area, but I was just a little tired. It was 2 30 in the morning. So very, very cool app. You know, if I was continuing up towards Idaho, which is where I'm headed, it'll repopulate. Look at all that. So if you're in a jam and you're on the road and you're on the way somewhere and you need a place just to stop for the night, Trekker Path is a great app to use. Just for fun, I'm going to show you guys this compared to a couple of the RV camping apps. So this is the highway that I'm on up towards Boise, Idaho on Trekker Path. Now let's see if See, this is that same area. None of that information is on there. It's mostly camping places. These are all dispersed camping places that I would have had to find in the middle of the night in the dark. None of those truck stops or way stations or rest areas were on here. That's why I like Trekker Path because it will not only tell me truck stops and what parking there is, but also way stations, rest areas, scenic overlooks, places to pull over, and all kinds of places that you can just pull into overnight when you need to to rest before you get back on the road. Love it. So moral of this story, you guys, if you get creeped out, leave. That's what we did. And, you know, have some tools that help you find a spot on the road. My friend stated a pilot that was in the direction they were going and I stayed here. That's it, you guys.
