The Warriors defeated the Spurs, 109-108 tonight in San Antonio. Stephen Curry finished with a team-high 49 points along with 9 three pointers and 4 rebounds for the Warriors, while Jimmy Butler III tallied 21 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals in the game. Victor Wembanyama recorded 26 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The Warriors improve their record to 8-6 with the win, while the Spurs fall to 8-4 for the season.
And Remben Yama comes out on him, the stabilizing factor, Kerr gushing about Butler as Green gets it off to Curry and foxes on him.
Green screens, switch, three, good!
Curry hitting the three moments ago with a nice screen.
Castle just not up at the point of contact to switch the step to get in there and then again, Will Richard, smart to get underneath the left hand, the soft touch.
Green the rebound, touch pass to Curry, leading the break, no look pass out of the way, Richard will finish!
Great break by Golden State!
Golden State came limping into here after getting crushed in Oklahoma City.
One Wednesday, coming out on fire tonight, here comes Curry, two point shot rattles in.
Seven.
Some reinforcements coming in for San Antonio, but let's go back to that last step back by Steph.
Curry.
See how many times the Warriors involved Cornette in this screen so that Steph can come on and manipulate just like that.
What a stroke.
With the left hand to create the room and then again, if Cornette's involved in this pick and roll, if Steph sees any daylight, he's gonna pull.
Well, we've had an interesting game because Golden State is three of 16 shooting threes, San Antonio for 13.
There's a three right out of my mouth and right through the twine by Curry.
Horford picks it up, number one.
I don't know if Steph talked to Steve Kerr about this at all.
Aldon Johnson checks in for Cornette, two and a half.
In the second, stutter step, Curry throw, with Renbenyama right there!
From the wing, presented by Wingstop.
Well, look at the timing right there, Kevin, with Steph seeing Victor's back, reading his last name, he created the space.
I'm not sure, have we seen this before?
Hmm, is there a, oh yeah.
Fox and Curry switch with Kessel.
That takes the drive, the Curry deuce.
Horford is in, Butler is screened, Curry a three, bullseye!
Deuce, he's got four.
Curry shifting, driving, scooping, scoring!
Fends off the D, floater on the fly, got it!
And he smiles to go to the line.
Just amazing, still a game changer.
Well, Steph got that first bump, knew that.
They've led by as many as six, Warriors have led by as many as eight, three to play in the third.
Curry, triple, yes, got it!
With those two sloppy plays by Golden State, leaving the five easy points, a three-pointer and transition.
Curry, under a minute to go in the third.
It's Curry, corner, Peyton, it's Curry on top.
Just amazing.
He is a flamethrower!
Now the Warriors play in zone and that's the guy they would love to give the shot up to.
Curry from Kerrville puts it in!
Butler, around the horn they go, six to play in the fourth.
Curry, chisels, fires, nails it!
Curry with nine threes, nine of them.
Just a great shake by Steph.
Curry has the last eight for the Warriors.
Kessel is on him, Curry will drive.
Forty-five for Curry!
Steph, defended by Fox, couple on him.
Golden State win the game.
How would you describe this emotion that we're seeing from you?
I love this game, I love my teammates.
I thank God every day I get these opportunities to keep playing and enjoy these type of moments.
It's only game 14, we're just trying to claw our way into some type of identity and momentum.
But that was fun.
They've got a great team, to come here and win back-to-back games is huge.
For you, back-to-back 40-point games, you've got six of those in your career, but it's your first since 2022.
What did this one in particular take from you?
Just kind of digging deeper, reminding myself to have fun.
The competition and understanding how the game can kind of ebb and flow.
Next shot, just keep shooting, keep trying to make the right play.
Gary Payton coming in, knocking down those two threes.
Al Horford playing great defense.
BP taking that charge.
Jimmy finished at the basket, Draymond.
Reading, reacting, we all did it together.
I know the points looked great, but we all did it together to win.
That's what we're trying to build on.
Step after the night you guys had in OKC, to 72 hours later, putting together these back-to-back performances.
What does it say about what this group is capable of?
That's why I know we get a lot of attention.
We have our own expectations in our locker room that we can still win at a high level.
That's all it is.
We're just trying to live up to that.
It's a long year.
There's a lot of emotions, a lot of ups and downs.
We're just trying to, like I said, come out and find an identity.
We haven't been able to do that early in the season, but these are two gritty, gutsy, professional wins.
Appreciate the time, Steph.
Congrats on the win.
Appreciate you.
