G7 Raises Concerns Over Chinese Military Buildup

A warning from the world’s seven major democracies to the Chinese Communist Party. In a joint statement on Wednesday, G7 foreign ministers expressed concern over China’s military buildup and rapid nuclear expansion. They also called on Beijing to increase transparency.

Officials stressed they oppose any Chinese attempts to change the status quo by force in the South and East China Seas or across the Taiwan Strait. In other words, they’re warning China not to take aggressive actions toward Taiwan or in disputed waters with other countries.
