http://www.zsl.org Meet 'Pip' the wallaby. After being abandoned by her mum she is being hand-reared in a rucksack at ZSL Whipnsade Zoo. For mum Alex, it's hard work being a mother but she hasdeveloped a close bond with the baby wallaby. Watch this video to see the happy family in action.

So this is Pip, Pip is a seven month old baby joey.
Unfortunately her mum abandoned her so we picked her up,
put her in a backpack so this imitates mum's pouch.
So it's nice and warm with a blanket as well because she finds it hard to
regulate her own temperature because obviously mum would do that for her
having the warmth so she's got a nice blanket to keep her nice and warm.
Yeah I carry her on my back in her bag around
so she meets loads of people every day at the zoo. I have got a close bond with
Pip and she knows who I am with my voice and
everyone else that I work with as well because
she comes out, she comes out around with us and everyone else
meets her on our section as well every day.
Yeah it is like being a mum but I'm not actually a real
mum yet but I can't imagine having an actual baby
at this present time because it is a lot of hard work. I mean at the minute she's
been fed every four hours and when I first got her it was every three
hours. In the long term she's going to be living
down the farm with Ruby and Fidget who are also
two other hand-reared wallabies. Ruby's an albino and then
Fidget is another one just like little Pip here
so she'll live with them and then what we'll do is hopefully let kids and that
stroke her and interact with her when she gets a bit bigger.
Probably in another month from now Pip will be in and out the bag on herself
going to the toilet on her own. She'll be a lot more active she'll still have the
bag as her security blanket so she'll be
I don't know in another month and a half she'll be out
outside where the public can see her in the day and she'll still have this
this bag so she can jump in and out all the time.
