I have managed to line up all my favourite Japanese cars
from the Gran Turismo 2 video game.
This is nuts!
Let me talk you through the cars, starting with the one I'm sat in now.
It is, of course, the Honda NSX.
Next to me is an R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec.
Next to that is a 99 model year Mazda RX-7 Type RS.
Next to that is a Nissan Silvia S15.
Next to that is a Mark 4 Toyota Supra.
Next to that is a Toyota Chaser JZX100 from 1999.
Finally, we come to the Mitsubishi Evo VI Tommy Mackinnon edition.
Right, let's do this.
Good start.
Come on, NSX!
Come on!
Yes, come on, NSX!
Yes!
Let's go. Come on.
Whoa! Sounds awesome!
I'm getting dropped by the R34.
Oh, can I beat that Chaser?
So then what exactly happened?
Well, the Evo VI won, completing the standing quarter mile in 13 seconds dead.
The GT-R finished in 13.5 seconds and the Silvia took 13.8 seconds.
The Supra just picked the RS7 to the line,
though both cars were timed at 13.9 seconds.
The Chaser finished in 14.2 seconds
and the NSX was last with a time of 14.3 seconds.
Now we're going to have a rolling race from 50 miles an hour in third gear.
We're going to see who's quickest to the half mile. Let's do it.
Here we go. Right, everybody level? Supra?
I'm going to count it in. Three, two, one, race!
Oh, lovely pick-up on this.
But there goes the R34.
Oh, the way it changed gears!
The proper thing, so I can do the half mile in gear.
Now we're going to have a brake test from 70 miles an hour.
When we're into line, full emergency stop.
Here comes the line. Coming up now.
Stop, stop. Stop.
Looks like I'm sort of level with the Supra,
but I think the GT-R won, didn't it?
Then the Chaser was ahead of me
and I can't quite see between the RX7 and the Evo, so who came last?
I think it might be the Evo.
