Welcome back everyone. This time I will be camping at Sabrina Campground near Sabrina Lake in Inyo
National Forest. Situated at over 9,000 feet above Bishop, California is this lovely campground.
I will be camping for three nights here. This is a first come first served campground
with 20 campsites. There is no cell phone service here, but they do have portable water, spigots,
trash cans, and vault toilets. I will be staying three nights. I was given site 16 for $34 a night.
Make sure to bring either cash or check for the Iron Ranger box. The campground is very scenic
and it's situated along the Middle Fork Bishop Creek. I showed up a bit late and I was lucky
to grab the last trailer RV site. Come on Lucy let's go check out the campsite.
It's the only one so I can't complain. Look at that. Look at the view and I got the bathrooms
here close by. I gotta be careful with snakes or anything like that. And this is the campsite.
Just look at the view. Look at how peaceful it is here. No sound. Down here should be the river.
Let's go take a look. And I just ate it. Ripped up my pants. Oh well. Slipped on that rock over there.
River should be down here. And this time I'm going to go fishing too.
Let's check out the restrooms. As you can see there are warnings regarding bears.
There is bears here. Rattlesnakes. Good I have the water spigot right here as well which is good.
Okay first thing I'm going to do is unload. Unhitch the trailer and then see where I'm
going to put my canopy. Look at this how beautiful it is. The campsites are just right there.
Caught them way up inside. Little pockets in there. Oh wow.
So I got here a little late and I'm gonna make dinner right now. Put the grill over here.
Look at that view. Oh my god. It's just beautiful here. So I made short ribs
and some sausage and then whatever's left over will be for tomorrow for lunch. So this is my
setup. I got the grill over there far away. Some wine. Making a quick salad. Some red onions and
then I have some tomatoes. I like the cherry tomatoes. Just put it in there and then I'm
gonna put some parsley. I don't have fresh but I'll have I'll use this. Garlic salt and olive oil.
Good morning. Hi mamas. Well guys I woke up uh actually I've been up since three o'clock
in the morning. We've been having a lot of earthquakes and this last one was like
actually it felt like a four point something and it was that one was at 5 34 in the morning.
So it really shook up the trailer. I'm probably gonna just stay awake. I can't go to bed anymore.
I heard some people up. They were going to the restroom. Just been uh several earthquakes this
morning. It's just I haven't been able to sleep. So we're gonna get up. Lucy is all bundled up so
she's ready to go outside and go uh do her thing. It is very cold today.
I had a little bit of internet this morning so I don't know if that's internet or what but
I think it is. But I did have some internet this morning here. Like maybe three bars.
This is supposed to be my campsite. I didn't really use it. I'm probably gonna make some
do a fire today but that's it. And I'm right next to this mountain.
The mountains here. So nice but it is really chilly.
So I got the coffee ready uh all set here and then I'm gonna make some pancakes.
I got this uh pancakes mix here at the store. So we're gonna do that for breakfast.
Making my first batch here. First one came out good. I'm doing the other one here.
Oh I can't wait. I haven't eaten pancakes in so long. Look at that guys.
So let me tell you. Last night uh my first night I bought uh these mice.
Um like kind of it's like mice trap or something. This is what I bought and uh I put it around
my car. The tires and inside the motor as well. I put like two inside the motor.
And the reason is because last time when I went camping um a mice got in and damaged
some electrical parts in my car. So this time I said okay I'm gonna put something and I don't
know if you could see it down there but I put um the mice traps and uh I think that's gonna help.
I mean when you come out here hopefully I don't have any problems this time.
So I washed some of the stuff that I uh did for breakfast and then uh I'm gonna get dressed
and then head out to the lake. And I'm gonna show you what Lake Sabrina looks like. It is beautiful
out there. And this campground is called Lake Sabrina campground. It's just a few miles.
Actually it's just walking distance from the lake. So I was lucky to get the last one.
So I just got a visit from the park host and he told me there was a bear in site 20 which is right
next to mine. Actually right on the other side here. And they got into their stuff. So there
was two bears. A black bear and a brown bear. Like a brownish bear. So um he told me please
make sure to put anything inside the bear box which I am gonna do. Um I told him I had put it
inside the car and he said no no no don't do that because they're able to open doors and uh they can
actually break in windows and things like that. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna put tonight
everything in uh in the bear box. Anything that smells I'm not gonna take any chances. So I was
pretty sure there was bears here. Especially that mountain next to us. So um they're saying
please be aware there's bears here. So we're gonna go uh to the lake. And uh so apparently
it was this site that got the bear at 2 a.m between. So guys best season to come by to this
campground is mid-May to late October. Elevation here is about 9,000 feet. All campsites are first
come first serve. Several of the campsites are tent only with limited parking. Because of smaller
sites, long trailers and motorhomes are not recommended. About half of the sites are in the
shade. The other half are more sun exposure. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and food
storage bear proof lockers. The campground has drinking water and full toilets and firewood is
pronounced Sabrina by locals. Though it was originally named by Miss Sabrina Hobbs. Lake
Sabrina is located in the Ineo National Forest in California. Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains.
Southwest of Bishop. Situated on Highway 168. It's a man-made lake formed by damming the middle fork
of Bishop Creek. So if you're probably wondering can you swim in Lake Sabrina? Yes swimming is
permitted just be aware of the cold water temperatures. The water is typically cold due to
snow melt. During summer temperatures can reach up to the mid 80s. Once you're all set up at your
campsite take a moment to head out to the lake to appreciate the surrounding. Here at this specific
spot is the boat landing and it offers boat and pontoon rentals, waterfront dining at the cafe,
a small store stocked with bait and taco and wine, beer, snacks and don't forget to try the homemade
pies. Lake Sabrina leads to several trails that reveal a series of alpine lakes in glacial basins
and several 13,000 foot peaks along the way. This little marina reminds me of the small Alaskan
fishing port I've seen in postcards. Shore fishing is easy and it's a very popular spot
for outdoor enthusiastics especially those ready to reel in a few rainbow or brown trout.
Lots of scenic hiking trails to explore. The scenery is breathtaking. There's a little cafe
beside the lake and let me tell you the pie what could be better than warm apple pie and ice cream.
The pie is delicious.
I also drove up North Lake Road to North Lake, a small lake popular for fishing
and enjoy some stunning scenery. If you enjoy fishing this is definitely the spot to go fishing.
Lake Sabrina or Lake Sabrina has two sites North Lake and South Lake. North Lake is a smaller lake
and it's part of the Bishop Creek Canyon area. North Lake also has a campground up there with
11 sites that are first come first serve for about $31 a night. It's more secluded and surrounded by
aspen trees. Just a beautiful site. A must visit destination for nature lovers, hikers,
photographers and especially for fishermen. This magical location has something for everyone
so don't forget bring your cameras up here. So I'm going to go down this trail. He said uh
one of the guys that was coming down fishing he said in two minutes you'll hit the lake.
So this here to your right is another campground. This would be closer to that little small lake
or the the part of the lake and this one is the North Campground. So this one is $31 per site,
$15.50, golden age, golden access, $10 extra vehicle and $10 firewood,
seven day limit maximum stay. This is the North Lake Campground.
So that campsite only had maybe 11 sites. If I'm not mistaken that's how many I counted.
Probably 11 sites. Most of these are small campsites which is nice because you can
you know be close to the lake and not worry about having too many neighbors.
So for dinner I'm going to make some tacos. I have some meat here.
Yes it is a lot but it's going to be leftover for tomorrow. I made some salsa too.
It's a little bit spicy but that's okay. So that will be my dinner for tonight.
Okay these are my tacos. I'm going to put the salsa on it.
I put a lot of meat. That's it. That's my dinner for tonight.
Time to go home. I'm already packed. Lucy's been in bed while I pack.
I just have to put the canopy up and the screen and then I'm all done.
and those are only tents. Lucy is already said to go playing with her toy.
I forgot to take out the paper that I'm leaving.
you
