A small band of Senate Democrats voted with Republicans on Monday night to approve a funding measure to reopen the federal government. The funding compromise will now go to the House, where GOP leaders are hopeful it could pass as soon as Wednesday.

The deal would restore critical services like federal food aid and provide pay for hundreds of thousands of federal workers.

Trump says the agreement will prevent money from going to illegal immigrants.

Trump also commented on tariffs, warning of significant economic and national security consequences if the Supreme Court were to rule against his use of emergency powers to implement wide-ranging tariffs on imports.

NTDs Daniel Monaghan has more on that issue and the latest on the deal to end the government shutdown.
