Hello!
Right now I'm in Hong Kong, the land of dim sum.
It's my second day actually here, but I have not eaten a single dim sum yet.
So far I've only been eating their yu tan, which is also like yu yuan, fish ball in Singapore.
But they call it yu tan here, which is directly translated to fish egg.
Very interesting and very delicious.
It's like very addictive.
I'm not even a fish ball person back in Singapore.
I rarely eat fish balls.
But here, it's just so good.
I just keep eating from one stall to another.
Here are some photos.
I'll be staying here for a couple of days, eight days to be exact.
Yup, it's very long.
So far it's been a very friendly place because everyone is so nice here.
Even though I butchered my Cantonese very badly when I ordered stuff and all.
So the prejudice against how Hong Kong people are rude, fast paced and all,
isn't that true for me in my case?
But maybe because I haven't been to any cha chang ting yet,
which is known for the rude services.
But before I continue my day or the week, let me get the cringiest thing out of the way first.
Since it's the holiday season, if you are planning to travel and all,
and also using Klook to buy your attraction tickets or anything there,
you can use my promo code.
Yup, I have a promo code so you can use it to offset some of the costs.
So yeah, I can finally continue my day.
That was embarrassing.
But yeah, anyway the streets is pretty empty because I wake up quite early today.
It's 8am right now and I'm heading to my first stop of the day which is Bakehouse.
It's one of the most popular bakery stores in Hong Kong.
So I'm gonna try and it'll be my first egg tart in Hong Kong.
I'm so excited.
I can take a train but I'll be walking there.
Walk off the calories first you know.
And maybe along the way, if I see any cha chang ting or anything that looks nice,
I would want to eat breakfast there also.
Honestly speaking, I'm quite hungry and the egg tart is probably just a snack.
It's not a meal for me.
Yeah, right now I'm at this place called Dim Sum here.
It seems tourist-friendly but when I went in, there's a lot of locals inside though.
I ordered this iced milk tea.
It wasn't as sweet as I thought though so it was okay.
Not bad.
And then I also ordered this century egg congee.
Interestingly, it's quite diluted but I'm not sure if it is like a common thing in Hong Kong.
What I'm more surprised is the qi zhong fan.
Because each slice of qi zhong fan has a one big-ass prawn inside and it looks so good.
And it tastes good as well.
The prawn is super big and fresh and juicy.
And I also realised they don't have GST or service charge but they have a table charge
which is like five dollars.
So yeah, right now I'm still heading to Bakehouse.
I'm halfway there already.
I hope the famous egg tart haven't ran out though.
Because they say that it's very popular and it runs out fast.
This is crazy eh, the queue.
But I'm here already and I'm a tourist so I got a queue.
Finally.
Oh, right in front.
That's the queue.
Finally did it.
I bought more than just the egg tart.
I bought other things as well.
Apple pie cookie, black sesame peanut donut and also salted egg caramel bolo bun.
Total damage was 116 Hong Kong dollars.
This is the cookie which I will eat later.
And...
The packaging is so cute though.
But anyway, the main star is the egg tart.
The rest is just like, it looks nice so I buy it.
There's a sign outside that says there's a limit to 30 egg tarts per customer.
Which is crazy lah.
Like, do people buy more than 30 egg tarts before?
Wait, I forgot to take a photo.
Sourdough egg tart.
Yeah.
It's not bad, it's good.
Damn, it's gone.
Now maybe I have too much of an expectation because it's not like,
oh my god, it's worth to die for or something like that.
Okay, let me try a bite of this donut because it's so tempting.
This is the black sesame donut.
You can see the filling.
Oh, the filling is really very black sesame eh.
It's very very sesame.
I don't know, what am I saying?
The taste is very strong.
If you like black sesame, you should get this.
Okay, let me try one bite of this.
This is like, might as well just try everything right.
This is the, what was it ah?
Salted egg polo bao.
I forgot already.
I'll know once I eat it.
Wow, the salted egg is damn strong.
An uncle in a taxi is judging me.
Wow, but this one is good.
The one that was taking my order said that this is limited to this stall only.
They're not kidding with the flavours ah.
When they say salted egg or black sesame, they really deliver.
Should I try the apple pie cookie?
For y'all okay, for y'all.
Let me try this.
They have double chocolate cookie as well but apple pie cookie sounds more interesting.
Wow, it's really apple pie.
I don't even know how to explain this but whatever that they describe the things that
they're selling, they really have that thing.
This really tastes like an apple pie in cookie form.
It's good la.
It's a little bit cold.
But I think it will be great if it's warm.
To be frank, I actually prefer the other bakes than the egg tart.
I mean, everything is okay.
It's just that I feel they should be known for other things rather than just egg tarts.
Because the other bakes are delicious while the egg tart is egg tart.
Yep, that's all.
I'll be heading to the next location.
See you there.
Have reached this really beautiful and big-ass mall.
K11 Musi.
K11 Musia.
I don't know.
It's one of the well-known malls in Hong Kong.
But before I check out the mall since I think it's still early and most of the shops probably
are not open yet.
But let me check out the amazing view that is along the base of um
Yeah.
And let me interrupt the view with me again.
Not sure you can see but there's a white globe behind the building.
It's actually a Hong Kong Space Museum which I'm excited to go.
But it's closed every Tuesday which is Tuesday today.
And it's free on Wednesday.
But don't quote me on this first because I'm not sure is it really free for everyone on Wednesday.
So I will check it out tomorrow and come back to you if it really is.
Hello.
Future Faith here.
So yes, the Hong Kong Space Museum is free for entry on Wednesday and it's lots of fun here.
And if you have nothing else better to do in Hong Kong,
you can also check out Hong Kong Science Museum which is just less than one kilometer away.
And it is also free for entry on Wednesday.
So Wednesday can be planned for your museum hopping day.
And also there's another museum called Museum of Arts.
I'm not sure if the entrance is free but I'll check it out also.
Okay, now I don't interrupt the view with my ugly face.
Here is the view.
The weather is very good though.
It's windy and not too cold.
There's also handprints along the railings that shows the Hong Kong or international stars.
That's why it's called Avenue of Stars here.
By the way, in case anyone is curious,
yep, I'm traveling alone, solo for this trip.
But I'm not exactly alone as well because I have my baby right here.
It's so cute.
It's like a farmer coming out from the countryside and visiting the city.
This is the story plot.
By the way, they have issued this typhoon tree warning today.
That's why I postponed my Disneyland trip for today.
But right now, the weather is perfect and there's no rain or anything.
I might be jinxing it but this would be a perfect day to go to Disneyland.
But it's fine, just in case.
Who knows, maybe when I go to Disneyland, the rain really happens because I'm a jinx.
Let me enjoy the view and then I'll head on to the K11.
Yeah, that mall.
I'm in a revolving door.
Nice.
Okay, the mall is filled with things and shops that I cannot afford.
One example is Gucci.
But on the level 6, there is a balcony sort of place where you can get a better view of the bay.
Which I would think is worth coming in and out for if you are a peasant like me.
But even if you come out, it doesn't mean that you are a peasant, okay?
Just ignore what I said.
Let's get a closer look.
Let's check out the other side.
Yep, that's all.
I have nothing to shop in this mall so I'm gonna head out.
Maybe I'll check out the Museum of Art.
Not sure if it's open already though.
It's open.
It's closed every Thursday though so just to take note.
Let me go in and I think there's a fee for it but I'm keen in it so I'm gonna try and go in.
There's a sign that says no videography so I don't think I'll be filming inside.
If I can, maybe I'll take a few photos and you'll see like 5-second montages or something.
I don't think most of my viewers care about museums.
So yeah, see you.
Oh my god, correction.
The gallery entrance fee is free.
It's only if you attend those special events or special galleries then you need a ticket for it.
But any other normal galleries, it's free.
So, hooray!
Hello, so I'm done with my museum hopping.
Not hopping, I only want museum.
Gallery hopping in a museum.
Okay.
Anyway, I'm now in another mall which is called K11 Art Mall.
And I think this mall is more towards my spending calibre.
Cool.
Popular place in Hong Kong, let's check it out.
Found this random stall in the middle of the streets and decided to just try it.
The service was super fast man but I had to share a table so I didn't dare to film much.
Trying to avoid eye contact while focusing on the food.
It's damn funny.
But the food was delicious though.
I ordered this beef three combo which contained brisket, tendons and the starbuck.
It's pretty good eh, honestly speaking.
Yeah, so right now it's slightly drizzling.
I might be jinxing it.
It reminds a little bit of the Waterloo Street along Bugis.
But anyway, that's all for now.
I'll probably continue to walk and I'll see you in the next time when I found something to eat.
Let me try.
It is good.
Oh my god, the flavour is so thick.
It's 28 Hong Kong dollars which is around 5 dollars each.
I also got this.
This looks so good.
It's their Ling Juan.
Yeah, it looks really good.
So give me a moment as I finish my ice cream so I can try one of it.
Okay, I finished my ice cream after walking for a bit.
And now for this one.
Camera first.
It looks so interesting.
Hey, it feels like jelly.
It's like a black sesame, flat jelly rolled up into a roll.
That's basically it.
I would prefer the ice cream though because it's more flavourful.
Another snack of the day.
Yeah, my show for treasure.
But yeah, let me continue my way.
Thank you for staying with me for my food review.
Right now, I am at Mong Kok.
And more specifically, it's the Sino Centre where they sell a lot of hobby stores.
And by hobby stores, I mean all this rubbish.
Damn.
Probably lots of window shopping.
So far, I have not spent a single cent on goods.
My spending so far has been on food.
So I'm not saying anything but just FYI.
I got some goods.
Nothing crazy.
Just some goods.
There isn't much to shop obviously compared to Japan.
But if you are a Chikawa fan, a Sanrio fan or a Pokemon card fan,
I think you will enjoy a lot there.
So yeah, but be careful because I noticed there's a lot of bootleg stuff there.
Which is hilarious.
But yeah, that's all for the Sino Centre.
Right now, I'm gonna just walk more around Mong Kok because there seems to be a lot of stuff here.
The first day, I spent my whole day walking around Mong Kok
and then now I realised there's another part of Mong Kok that I have not explored.
If you are thinking of where to stay in Hong Kong,
Mong Kok seems like a right choice.
And the sky is starting to turn dark.
And then I will buy dinner.
Hello.
Another store that I randomly come across.
Their menu is all words.
No pictures.
Okay, there is some pictures but it's like one.
So I'm taking a gamble right here.
But my friend did recommend to try the claypot rice.
So that's what I did.
I ordered claypot rice with salted fish and minced pork.
Sounds good.
It's 76 Hong Kong dollars so it's around 14 dollars.
I need some cups because I'm very tired from walking.
Let me check how many steps I walked.
24,000 steps.
I think I deserve some rice for dinner.
I have to add this sauce on myself.
I waited for around 20 minutes.
I guess they have to cook this so it took longer.
It's a little bit cold now from the outside air.
So I think this will be damn shiok.
Let's try it.
They give one small chunk of salted fish though.
So it's a little bit hard to even out for the whole claypot.
If I have a chance again, I might try claypot rice with pork ribs and black bean sauce.
That sounds good.
Let's see if I can finish this.
Because it looks huge.
I failed.
I couldn't finish.
It's too much rice already.
I'm not used to eating so much rice at night.
As you can see, the sky is pitch black.
Yep, so that's all for my solo day trip in Hong Kong.
I won't be filming the rest of the days in Hong Kong because
1. I think it will be very repetitive because I'll just be eating and walking.
And 2. I don't have enough storage.
And 3. I don't want to film and edit a probably one hour video.
Yeah, I'm a lazy ass.
So thank you for watching.
If you are still watching until now,
you can look forward towards the Disneyland video that I will be doing.
Bye!
