If you're considering working for a free leads agency
or like a no cost leads,
like final expense sales type of program,
this video is designed specifically for you
as I'm gonna share five things
that you should absolutely keep in mind
when interviewing and or like looking
into these type of companies.
So let's start with giving the video a thumbs up
and subscribing if you're a new viewer.
We're putting out insurance sales content
and final expense sales training videos like all the time.
The very first thing that you need to ask is,
do you release agents contracts?
Of course, if you're working with a company
that has like their own products,
like American Income Life or Lincoln Heritage
or like Senior Life of Georgia, it doesn't matter.
You can simply walk away from those companies
like at any time.
But we're talking about companies
that have like multiple products
and work with multiple carriers as,
here's the thing guys,
the last thing you want to do
is realize you've made a horrible mistake
and now the insurance agency
that you're with will not release you,
which means you have to go six months
without writing the carriers
that you just contracted with.
Stick around to the end of the video,
I'm gonna show you how to get a copy
of the thank you note that we send out
to like every new client that we sell.
And guys, I love this thing.
It is awesome because it actually does have a place
for you to like write in like the carrier name,
like the monthly premium,
like you can put your information in there
and your photo, it's really nice and professional
and it really locks in the sale,
especially if you're doing telesales,
you know, and they actually get this in the mail from you
like a few days after you spoke.
The second thing you need to find out about
is the exact training process.
Everyone and their brother is gonna tell you
they've got training and how great it is,
but you need to know exactly what they're gonna do,
like the exact process.
Are they gonna set you up with a master trainer
who has consistently written like 50 to 80K
of AP per month like my guy?
Is the trainer gonna work with you hand in hand
while, you know, you learn the presentation script?
In other words, will they sit with you
and have you like present to them while they correct you
and help you to make adjustments with like everything
from, I don't know, like the correct way to use your voice,
you know, other tonality to like exactly
how to close the sale.
Is the trainer gonna have you listen in on his sales calls
so you can hear him doing exactly
what you're gonna be doing?
Is the trainer gonna log into the system with you
while you're making your presentations
and work with you on like your first day
or your first week basically to help you sound better
like real fast?
If so, you might just learn how to do this the right way.
Again, if you're working with an agency
that doesn't do this, you know,
for a free leads program type of thing,
you probably are just gonna struggle and fail miserably.
It's kind of messed up because I hate to say it,
a lot of agencies just try to kind of throw
like every agent they can get against the wall
and let's just see who basically sticks, you know,
who can pick it up with the minimum training.
That's not the type of agency
that you wanna get stuck with, trust me.
Number three, commissions.
What most agencies do, now, you know,
this isn't what we do, but what most agencies
are gonna do is start you at like, you know,
30% or maybe like 40% first year commission, you know,
when you're in that learning stage.
And then if you do well and can grasp the concepts
of remote final expense sales,
then they'll increase it to like, you know,
40, 45, maybe even 50% or even potentially higher
with some agencies.
But they usually tell you that you have to sell
a certain amount of insurance to get there, right?
You know, the old carrot on a stick deal.
To me, there's nothing wrong with this
as long as the lead is the right type of lead.
This is important, which unfortunately most agencies
are using like horrible, like telemarketed leads,
the type of lead or call that's basically developed
from an offshore call center, like the worst.
I'll explain why at the end of the video,
but like, as far as commissions are concerned,
you do need to weigh, you know,
the commission level versus the quality of the lead.
That's to me very important.
Is the lead gonna be exclusive or not?
A good example is a young woman
that I spoke with last week.
She's got this big, like 75% contract level
and is getting like 100 free leads per week,
telemarketed leads, 100%.
And the worst part is that she said
that a lot of them were over two years old.
So here she is with this nice contract.
It's great because she's getting free leads.
You know, that's huge, what a great combination,
but the leads are horrible.
You know, they're so bad that one,
they're not even compliant.
And two, she said she was making like $200 per day
and still wasn't getting in more
than like a presentation or three per day.
Here's the way I see it.
Congratulations on your 75% contract
that does nothing for you,
since you'll never make more than a sale or two each week.
And those horrible and illegal leads
are pretty much gonna just get you in trouble
or make you hate life at least.
Which leads us to number four, the leads.
Those telemarketed leads are old.
Most of them are either bad phone numbers,
like people who already have the insurance,
people that are like so sickly
that they'll talk to anybody.
And potentially if one of them is to the wrong person,
you know, one of the leads is from someone
who happens to have a law degree,
you're probably gonna be in trouble.
Unless like you've taken each lead one by one
and checked it against the DNC, the do not call list.
Look, you and I both know that no one
is really doing this with each lead.
I mean, there are systems that do it, ours does.
For instance, at the end of the day,
what kind of leads should you be calling
and what are the best leads?
I personally think that the best leads
for like a free and or subsidized leads program
are, well, first, any lead that is inbound,
assuming the client isn't calling in
to get some type of free benefits
and that it's not a transfer.
You know, the client's actually calling in.
Here's the thing.
Some of the bigger agencies I see
who send out spam emails and market like crazy
on YouTube and Facebook are doing this.
They're getting these horrible, horrible inbound leads
of people who think they're getting something for free
and that's why they're hitting the call now button.
I won't name names because again,
it's up to you to do your due diligence.
And other than like an inbound lead,
to me, the second lead is a calendar appointment lead,
which is what we do.
That's what we use.
Where the client sees an ad online
about final expense or funeral insurance.
They set an appointment to speak with the agent
about getting a quote for the insurance
and then they actually verify the appointment
by replying to a text message.
And this is again, what we do for our independent agents
and for the producers on our subsidized leads program.
And guys, look, we're not the only ones doing this
so you can do your due diligence.
We're probably just the only ones
paying the higher commission.
The third type of lead that we love for agencies
that have a free or subsidized leads program
is the Facebook and or internet lead.
Again, where the client knows
that this is about getting a quote
and where the ad like isn't misleading the prospect
to think that they're gonna get some free thing.
It makes me crazy.
A decent agency can basically generate
a quality internet lead for around seven bucks or less.
So now they can give their talented producers
hundreds of these leads.
And now the agent is able to make
like multiple presentations every day.
Even at like, I wanna say a 50% contract,
when you're closing multiple sales on a daily basis,
you're in the position to earn
at least $100,000 per year and potentially a lot more.
And that's also depending on the agency
and how many leads you're getting, of course,
whether you know how to close sales or not.
I mean, that's a pretty big part of it too, right?
Number five, does the agency you're looking at
have opportunities for you to grow
and become like a trainer or manager
like a year later, for instance,
or basically someone who is in the position
to earn more money than like the typical insurance agent
on their platform.
I mean, think about it guys, if you're really good,
if you don't wanna sell insurance for the rest of your life
and would like potentially like to, I don't know,
at least like have the option to get into
like maybe a managerial position, training position,
will that be possible with the agency you're working with?
You need to ask.
I'm telling you, it's important.
Find out, ask, because trust me guys,
17 years in the life insurance industry,
I have seen burnout from the very best.
And yes, most agents do tend to suffer from burnout
at one point or another.
It's common.
I see a lot of top producers gradually sell less
and less and less each year.
Meanwhile, they're just getting more and more tired
and doing like less and less work.
And with this in mind, what are you gonna do
if or when this happens to you?
Have a plan B.
See if the agency you're about to work with
can do something for you in the future.
See if they're open to it.
See if they're doing it with other agents.
Are other people going from like agent
to manager or trainer?
If so, this is definitely again,
something to think about, something to consider.
For a copy of the thank you note I mentioned earlier,
just email me at Doug at ufesonline.com
for more information on our no cost exclusive appointments
and leads platform or information
on our independent agent platform
where if you want 20 appointments per day,
we can make that happen.
Just shoot me an email at that same address.
As always, when you put the needs of your clients first,
everything else will usually fall right into place.
Now get out there and whatever happens,
make sure that you do something good
for someone else today.
Happy hunting.
