My name is Chrome i have been living in y cargo van for 6 years now. I started this lifestyle BROKE and IN DEBT and after 11 months of living the van life i cleared my debt and started to put my life back together and build for a better future. I have turned my original van into a badass camper van that is lifted with all the toys. Over the years i went from being broke and stealth camping in the city and sleeping at walmarts... to now, living fulltime in a jacked up van and driving deep off-grid into the backcountry and living life in the dirt. WOW LIFE HAS CHANGED. I now have a shop space to keep me busy through the winters here on Canada's westcoast. Went from Van Life to VAN LIFE + SHOP LIFE !!!!!! Come join this crazy van life journey of mine. HIT SUBSCRIBE, trust me its gonna be a WILD RIDE.
Good morning everyone. I can hear, I can hear all the vehicles around me of everybody going to work
and I'm just getting up man. It's eight o'clock in the morning.
I slept outside the shop last night. I can hear all the trucks and stuff coming in here this
morning. I'm like what the heck. I had that brief moment where I was like where did I sleep last
night? Did I pull up over in the industrial area here or am I at the shop?
Cruzy's still sleeping.
Hi buddy. Hi handsome. Good morning. Good morning. Welltec Designs posted a really rad video on
Instagram sharing that we are the spot in Canada to get Welltec Designs lift kits,
van toys, overland gear. The edit was so so good. But in there he said that we're doing a giveaway.
So if you have a Ford Econoline van and you're in Canada you're going to want to get in on this
right now. So we're giving away you know these little door hooks right there. These little
things. That hook on the back wheel opening so that thing doesn't swing forward. We're giving
away five of those and let me play this video. It's so good. It's an announcement for Canadian
E-Series customers only. So we are proud to announce our partnership with Chrome from
Van City Van Life and his new adventure Van Toys Overland where they're going to be not only
building but stocking Welltec Designs components for the Ford E-Series van. You know you want your
van to look like Chrome's van and so do we. So what we're going to be doing is we have these
awesome door hooks for Canadian customers only. What is a door hook? Well you don't want your
door always coming back into you. It simply hooks onto the edge of the fender there and then you put
the whole thing click it back in and shut your door. No messing with bungee cords and your doors
never hitting you in your ass. So if you want to win one of these comment down below. Tell me where
you plan on taking your van on its next adventure. You must subscribe to Welltec Designs. You must
be a Canadian and you must comment down below telling me where you're going to take your Ford
E-Series van and from those comments Chrome is going to pick five winners and send you one of
these. So all you Canadians good luck. I'll see you guys maybe in Canada. Where are they going now?
Canada. I got a package. I got I want to make sure they get there so I'm these are getting
shipped in this pallet. We're going to like tuck away. He's got a cool new sprinter van.
So yeah guys if you guys want to go on to Instagram their Instagram is Welltec Designs
and make a comment on this video here and then in a couple of days I'm going to go in there and pick
five Canadians. You got to be Canadian and you have to follow their Instagram. Maybe they posted
this video on their YouTube. If they did you might want to go check that out. But guys it'd be cool
if you guys get in on that. I am so stoked to team up with Welltec over here. You all know I love that
company. You all know I love my five inch Baja grocery getter lift kit on this van. So get in
on that. That video is so good. I slept in this morning man. I never sleep in this long.
Yeah she's gone down to the stage. So we're allowed to drive on that thing yet?
You didn't wake him up. You could have been barking at him and saying get up.
Morning. All right when everybody parks you can go. I know there's so many people to go see. Look
at all the people. Nothing like crawling out of your van first thing in the morning. There's people
standing right behind your van talking up on my head. They're like hey good morning girl. Good
morning. I'm sure it's weather every day. 365 days a year.
I'm all from here. Well it looks like they took all of my safety pylons out of here. I'm guessing
that means that we can drive on this thing now. I think I'm going to wait a little bit longer.
The guys here today doing the shingle work above each and every one of these doors today.
And then uh I think in a couple more days we'll be able to pull that Mercedes out of here and go
do a little camping in that Mercedes. Awesome. Cruzy wrong wrong door bud. You want breakfast or
what? Cruzy you can't go over here to eat food. He's like yes I can. Is that what you want? Watch
this guys. He goes right to the right to the fridge. I know there's a fridge back here and
there's food in here. We gotta cut this one in half. Wait. Wait. Wait. No you wait. Wait. Wait.
Vacuum. We don't feed them anymore. We'll let the neighbors feed them. Once I get approval from the
concrete guys that we can actually drive on that, I want to take this thing out and start doing a
little bit of camping in it. It's a little bit cold out here this morning. You need access in here?
Oh you can peek all you want. So once the concrete guys tell me that we're allowed to drive this
thing right across that concrete pad, I want to go out and do a little camping in this thing and
really get a feel for the space and what it's like to be out there in this Mercedes because
since I bought it it's kind of it's kind of been in here. Last little while it's been locked in
here because of because of the driveway and it's gonna be nice to take this take this thing out
and do a little street camping. Maybe take it out into the bush and see how it how it drives out
there. So hopefully in the next couple of days I'll find out if we can get this thing out of here.
But as you guys can tell around the shop here in the mornings there is lots of people and it's
been really fun. Cruzy likes it making his rounds over here because we got some new people
that are moving out here on the property and Cruzy's been over there meeting all those new
guys that are here around the property every morning. It's been fun but I'm stoked that
they're putting the shingling right outside the front of the shop completing my whole side. It'll
be done. All that's left out here after that is for me to put some some logos and stuff on the
front of it but uh yeah anyway. Some of you have been asking when are we doing the hexagon lighting
up there. Probably in about a week or two. Come on Cruz let's get out of here.
Look how awesome that's starting to look out there.
Yeah okay so Amanda's gone down to the USA in the shop van. We don't need to be here today.
Oh look how wet that is on the inside. Yuck. So I had a subscriber of mine give me a really cool
pro tip. He said with all that moisture that comes up on the inside of your window what he does
he has a little tiny squeegee that he bought at the dollar store for a buck
and he's like I just squeegee it all off because when you wipe it with like a towel and stuff like
that it just smears it all around and creates little water droplets that dries and just
wrecks your window. He squeegees it. I think we should do that. I think it's a really good idea.
All these years of living on my van and I never thought of that. I think the squeegee would be a really good idea.
Kind of fun to wake up at the shop you know. Everybody is around there to say good morning
and that's something that I've missed in van life for a long time. Like when you're out there
on the road by yourself for years after years nobody says good morning to you. It's just you
and it's beautiful for a long time. For a long time I enjoyed because I was a very social person
before van life and I was always surrounded by people so when I first got into van life
that calmness of being away from people for years was incredibly soothing. Then I think
after a while that loneliness. I won't call it loneliness because I never really felt lonely but that
quietness of not having anybody around starts to wear thin and now it's been kind of nice to be
here and you got people around in the morning and it's kind of nice you know. Van life seems to go
through stages where I find that you go from peaceful stages where or from the beginning
where I was in the city and it was chaos and then I go through my big peaceful stage where we stayed
on the back country for a long time and then we got this shop and things started to become super
and I've really enjoyed this part. It's been nice because I have the chaos when I need it
because I need a little chaos in my world to function and survive properly but then I can
unplug and go and have that peacefulness when I need it you know. It's a really really good balance
in life right now where before it was like on the extreme on both sides. There was too much silence
for too long with nobody around. Months where nobody said good morning to me unless I went into
a town and that's where it starts to wear thin where you got too long of it in the end of having
to go drive to go seek some people. I don't know what I'm trying to say here. I guess having that
balance on a weekly basis has really really helped my van life currently because back then you'd go
in big swings. Huge swings of not seeing anybody for a long time which sometimes you just need it
for the brain. You need some people. Then you go seek some people and then people become too too
much for too long and then you leave again. Where now I find I have that really good balance in my
week and it's got me happy right now. I like this stage right here. Do you want a low tipping? Sure.
Awesome. Thank you. I asked for a large. There's a medium.
Whatever I'll take it. There's only two bucks so I think she only rung me up for it. Did I say
medium? Maybe I did say medium. Amanda's making a run down to the USA right now to pick up some
more batteries and some roof vents and she just told me that she's like just made it through the
border into the USA. They pulled me into secondary and searched the van. Took eons and it's an empty
cargo van. Like that van is purely empty. There's nothing in there except for some straps and some
cables and stuff to secure the load in there. That's it. She's like it took them forever to
search an empty van. Amanda just said they're making sure I'm not a drug runner I guess. Oh crew.
Thanks for hanging out with me this morning you guys. It's fun to do these videos.
Ah come on chrome you wuss. What the heck? There's no way.
Are you serious? This is embarrassing. Have you ever not been able to open up a bottle of water?
This is nuts. My dad is gonna hate me for this. Heyo. Oh that was embarrassing. I'm actually
uploading this on the same day I recorded it. The date is Monday March 10th at 11 33
p.m a.m a.m and I've been trying to keep these videos on a regular upload no matter what we do.
Just want to share a little something with you guys and you know it's fun. You know it gives
a little entertainment. Gives me something to do. Gives me someone to talk to even though there's
lots of people to say good morning around here. Doing these everyday upload videos back when I
first started my channel for the first stack of years when I was going through those phases when
there was nobody around you guys were the people I got to say good morning to and when I uploaded it
you were the ones that were being social back to me so it made those quiet peaceful moments in my
time not as quiet. But yeah I'm van life for you guys. We'll go in phases. I know I've seen a lot
of people on here saying hey chrome there was a time when you said you'd never live in a sprinter.
There was also time when I never felt old either and as I got older my body just seemed to want a
bit more space and want to stand up so I moved into a sprinter. Things change in life for everybody
like right now I'm enjoying the chaos and enjoying the little short breaks to go do a couple back
country days then back to the chaos back to some backcountry calmness back to some chaos.
I'm enjoying that on a weekly basis right now. That's my current vibe but then there's times
when this might change and I might just go unplug and chromeys in the bush just just in the bush.
That's it you never know but that's one thing I like about having a home on wheels is you can
ride those vibes anytime you want. Anyway guys please go check out Welltech designs and get
in on that little door hanger thing in a couple days I'm gonna go on to their thing and uh and
pick the winners. Alright crew peace out see you on the next one. So embarrassing couldn't open up
the damn water bottle. What a...
