A sizeable order for Boeing 737 MAX aircraft could be at risk of cancellation following
fresh comments where this is Turkish Airlines order saying that complications are existing
with engine discussions that would make the deal a reality and see it move ahead
to eventual delivery. Key engine supplier CFM International is preventing the deal from moving
according to the airlines chair when speaking with Reuters during the middle of the week
a couple of weeks ago saying that the provider needs to come to terms on an agreeable deal
only if negotiations can progress in terms of costs that are mutually beneficial and what
Turkish Airlines would determine as appropriate do they say the deal with Boeing will progress
but simply put if progress does not increase at the desired speed and a new agreement cannot
Turkish Airlines is not afraid to make the switch reportedly having a greater choice at Airbus due
to available engine suppliers on the single oil family of the A320neo here which makes the possible
of switching its aircraft order at least to them a genuine reality at the moment some analysts
however are of the view that these comments that are really a threat to CFM are just to secure a
deal with the engine supplier that is beneficial for them thereby ensuring that the 737 MAX order
can proceed while therefore the possibility of a deal not occurring remains a genuine chance it
still feels very much likely that the 737 MAX order would go ahead as the airline looks to
advance its fleet in the coming years and understands that Boeing is going to play a
pretty pivotal role to this and I'll get into some core reasons why that deal for the 737 MAX has
been a long rumored one it was finally confirmed in a recent announcement in September of this year
with the airline also subsequently saying that Boeing would have a greater impact on its future
fleet needs the company's confirmation arriving for an intent to purchase 150 more MAXs resulting
in the largest single oil order from Boeing it has placed elevating their capacity and network
in the coming decades tenfold the landmark purchase from the airline does align with
the previously announced plans to grow and become one of the world's leading airlines
involving plans to have the fleet reach 800 aircraft by 2033 Turkish Airlines' time frame
of 2033 aligns with the vision for that year which was previously confirmed to support growth
from Istanbul and neighboring markets not just bringing more people to the country from a tourism
standpoint but also flying through the country harnessing the geographical positioning to allow
for onward connectivity as seen in the Middle East the contract was also considered to be part
two of an existing pushed by the airline to grow its fleet the first part you may recall involved
Airbus aircraft at the time of that Airbus order Turkish Airlines saying they were very much still
in the market for more planes and it felt like the second part was always going to be Boeing's to
lose while fleet diversification can sometimes be honestly frowned upon by airlines as they feel it
may lead to a lack of simplification if not executed correctly simply having too many fleet types
present there can also be quite considerable benefits for an airline that is looking to really
advance its fleet for Turkish Airlines the deal enables them to acquire planes sooner than they
would have if they put all their eggs in the one basket that is really driven by the huge amount
of demand that we're seeing for the A320neo family and especially the A321neo which now sees not all
that many delivery slots available in the near term meaning airlines have to be patient if they
require the services of this aircraft thanks for watching take care be safe leave a note your
thoughts down below in the comments do you believe this is just another one of those threats from
airlines to try and push forward negotiations or do you think there's some weight behind it
