Hey! Always wanted to learn how to skate but didn't know a thing about the basics?
I'm here to demonstrate them. Let's get started!
To stop yourself from rolling away, tuck one skate into the other to create a 90 degree angle.
This is called a t-stance.
The correct posture is torso up, arms in front, and knees slightly bent or soft.
Avoid trying to roll your feet to get moving. Instead, keep your toes out,
arms in front of you as a counterweight, and shift your weight left and right.
Pick up one foot at a time and keep your weight in the ball of your foot.
Those who struggle with lifting their feet can also slide one foot and the other to shift their
weight. In order to stop, bend your knees and bring your toes and knees together.
This is called the plow stop.
You can also do a toe stop by staggering your feet and shifting your weight to the front leg
and lifting the back heel and allowing the toe stop to drag.
During a fall, try your best to pick a butt cheek.
Tuck your elbows and your head in as well.
Avoid pulling someone up to help them get up. Instead,
show them they can cross one foot over the other, turn onto their knees,
put one foot up, and hands on the knees, push into the ground, and come to a t-stance.
This way, you can avoid being pulled to the ground with them.
In order to turn, you can step, step, and adjust your toes to the direction you want to go,
or you can bend your knees and point your knees to the direction you want to go.
Shift your weight accordingly.
Thanks for watching. Have fun and stay safe.
